Point well taken regarding Okur. He did in the Spurs twice this season....in case you've forgotten.

It's not just Okur. Mike James and Corliss Williamson were big losses also.

Biggest misconception of this thread ...

Detroit got rid of Mehmet Okur.

Mehmet was an unrestricted free agent that signed a huge contract with Utah. If the Pistons tried to match that offer, they would not have been able to re-sign Rasheed. Despite what some fans outside of Detroit think about Rasheed's attitude and arguing with the referees, Rasheed is a better player and more valuable player than Mehmet Okur.

You keep Rasheed over Okur, agreed. Faced with the decision the Pistons had to let him go...even moreso than when the Spurs lost Stephen Jackson. Spurs fans still regret losing him to basically a sorry agent.

Pistons miss Okur, though, against a team like the Spurs.

Mcdyess is doing fine but Billups needs a solid backup like Mike James to give him more rest so he is fresh in the 4th quarter and for the long stretch of winning a championship.

Mike James and Corliss Williamson were big losses also.

especially Mike James, Mike James is a hell of a shooter.

Williamson is someone that can frusterate and create mismatches.

Im guessing that Corliss for Derrick Coleman was a bad trade.....

When it's also said and done the likely story is not Okur but that the Spurs have dribble penetrators and the Pistons don't. Those players are invaluable, particularly with the change in rules.

Not re-signing Mike James WAS a huge loss to the Pistons, and in hindsight a mistake by Joe Dumars.

Corliss Williamson gave next to ZERO production in the Indiana and Los Angeles series last year. In my opinion, he would not help against San Antonio.

Corliss for Derrick Coleman was basically a salary dump. Coleman got cut half way through the season, and only half his salary will count against the cap for next season. It was not a bad trade. It served its purpose.

If you don't think Okur is good, you don't know anything about basketball...

Mehmet Okur killed the Spurs twice this year...

He made layups at critical time...

Detroits biggest mistake was letting Mike James go. Carlos Arroyo ain't no Mike James. Did ya'll read Larry Brown's lips when they showed Arroya messin up? Damn I was lmao. never seen him that pissed.
