Eff that. Spinach, tomato, cucumber, broccoli, and carrots FTW. Throw some sunflower seeds in there and some Eye Tallion dressing and it kicks ass.

Depends from where though. There is this salad place right by where I work (forgot the name) that makes some good ones but it can get pretty pricey. I like making my own because I can put a little more of this or a little less of that and make it just how I want it.

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing that a salad can be good. I ended up with spring mix, strawberries, avocado, Mozzeralla, shredded carrots and some good rasberry vinagarrette dressing. But I hate taking the time to do all of that. And after a few days of it, I really want something else.

Oh I agree making your own salad is better cause you can put what you want. It's just the ones in stores come in that clear plastic container and looks pretty haha

Been doing the salad thing for lunch for a few months now. Not a lot of fun some days but tough to argue with the results.

You had me until you mentioned that raspberry shit. I hate anything that taste like raspberries.:ihit
Unfortunately, I only seem to enjoy salads when I make them as unhealthy as a burger. Bacon, cheese, ranch or caeser....mmm.

what's wrong with raspberries? crazy crazy.
I end up trying all the different vinegerattes because I hate any dressings made with mayo (cuz I hate mayo).

I hate mayo more than I hate raspberries. Sometimes I just squeeze some lemon and add a little pepper to my salads. Still tastes good to me and it's a little better than all those other dressings.

Sounds even better
replace 2 meals a day with Naturade soy protein shakes (and a multivitamin with breakfast), and eat until you are not hungry (as opposed to feeling full and stuffed) on the 3rd meal. obviously dont eat something stupid like lard burritos, but you can still have an enjoyable meal
you will easily cut 1200+ calories a day, will feel much better, and will get much better nutrients in your body

+1
But I do have to make sure my salad has plenty of chicken or fish
I have recently moved my salads from lunch to dinner (unless I go out later that day, a salad is not enough if you are gonna drink a lot afterwards)
At lunch I make sure I have whole-grain carbs - I go to the gym after work.

If I could put chicken on it, I wouldn't have much problem at all. Unfortunately, I'm not supposed to eat much (if any) chicken. Fish is OK but I don't like it on a salad as much. Also the aspect of either 1) preparing fish for a salad at work or 2) having enough left over fish to use later.

Sorry you can't eat much chicken
I buy whole rotisserie bbq chickens from my local supermarket, peel off the fatty skin, and toss some yummy white meat in my salads
If it's fish, canned tuna most of the time :D

The salads at Bill Millers aren't bad. The ones with the bbq chicken though.

You can't eat chicken? Do you have an allergy? All poultry or just chicken? Obviously, I'm not familiar with such a thing....

Have you tried an arugula(sp?) salad with breaded chicken on it?

I've got 2 forms of arthritis, one since I was 25. Meat protein seems to aggravate both. In the past, strict diets where I eliminated beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and crustaceans seemed to completely shut off any attacks.
So what you're trying to say is you can't eat chicken?

I got home last night and for dinner, my wife had prepared...chicken. So I had some rice and green beans. Then later, an omelette.

Your wife must hate you. You should make dinner tonight. You can start off with PineSol soup, then move on to fried shards of glass and then for dessert you can have white chocolate almond ice cream. I don't mess around with dessert.

The thing is, she knows I just started this strict diet. I don't expect her to cater every meal to me at the expense of her and my daughter. And I'm fine with making my own meal. But really...it's only the second day. And I come in the door to the aroma of chicken. I guess it's good I'm not black (no racist).
