View Full Version : Kobe Had ZERO Respect For Duncan In His Prime

Koolaid_Man

Kobe gave Duncan the business...routinely...straight disrespected him every single chance he got...I posted this shit before but some of you are too young to remember this...Duncan was supposed to be a defensive anchor and yet Kobe did whatever he wanted to in the paint over and over again every single time they met...He dunked on this cat more than any other player during their era's..Duncan meant nothing to Kobe during their primes...and he still doesn't..what Kobe did to Duncan was supposed to be Shaq's responsibility as a big man....no trolling but I want history revisionists to get real....:toast

Go back and Tivo this shit:

duncan didn't need Shaq and Gasol to win rings, no contest really. while kobe was a below average to mediocre defender most of the time with potential to play good D for short spurts, duncan was a defensive force with his classy help defense. substance over style imho, not to mention duncan shot a lot better than 45% from the floor, his efficiency makes up for the difference in total points.

He just wasn't a defensive force when Kobe stepped onto the floor....:lol but the substance over style argument is a misnomer...Kobe was more substantive and had way more style...History will forget Duncan very soon...Mark Kool's words...:lol

let me spread the gospel:

Let me break this shit down once again as only a select few of us know how:

Kobe averaged 25.4pts, 5.9reb, and 5.13 ast for the regular season during LA's 3-peat. That's better than 95% of all players for those years.

Overall Kobe averaged 25.7pts, 5.83reb, and 5.09ast for the playoffs during LA's 3-peat

If you still consider Kobe a sidekick during his first 3...This shit will blow you out the fucking water...in fact I won't ever let you "Timmy" lovers forget it...It should be a sticky at on the front page of ST.

Let's compare Kobe's first 3 titles ( the infamous 'side-kick' 3-peat) with Duncan's first 3 titles:

Each succeeding year Kobe 'the 'side-kick'averaged 21.1 ; 29.4 ; & 26.6 ppg respectively during the play-offs of LA's 3 peat as the "2nd option" ...While Duncan averaged 23.2, 24.7, & 23.6 ppg respectively during the play-offs for his first 3 titles.

Now Go suck something...please:lmao

Let's condense that garbage and make it legible:

Kobe won 0 rings without a dominant big, Pau or Shaq.

Kobe won 0 rings without the franchise player from another team (Pau or Shaq)

Kobe's team was up 3 to 1 against the Suns and lost in the playoffs. Shaq took Miami to a ring against a younger Dirk and JT, something Lebron wasn't able to do even against an older one.

Shaq had 3 MVP awards in the Finals while Kobe was in his prime, Kobe had none.

Summary: Kobe is Pippen, almost

Even Tony Parker has a Finals MVP...

but those title teams were built around Shaq and Kobe just happened to drop in on the party...:lol...none of those players really complimented Kobe's game...the Lakers didn't build around Kobe until they traded for Pau...and we all know how Kobe has turned Pau into a decent big man...despite his vaginal issues...

let me spread more of the gospel:

The biggest difference between Kobe & MJ is that Kobe was able to win without another Hall of Famer playing alongside him. MJ couldn't do squat without Pippen. This should put an end to it all really:

You Stat guys that say Kobe had Shaq let me fuck up your world for a minute you should love this…lol

Jordan without Pippen (5 seasons):

.430 win %
0 Titles
0 MVPs
0 Finals MVP
0 Finals appearances
0 Playoff series wins
1-9 playoff record
0 NBA All Defense Team
0 NBA Defensive Player of the year

Kobe without Snaq (6 seasons):

.611 win %
3 Finals appearances
2 Championships
1 MVP (Reg season)
2 MVP (Finals)
5 NBA All Defense 1st Team
81 points in 1 game
62 points in 3 quarters (outscored Mavs all by himself)
4 straight 50+ pt games
30 straight 40+ games averaged 40 for a month

Kobe 3 Seasons without Shaq or Gasol:
.492 win %
0 Titles
1 Regular Season MVP
0 Finals MVP
0 Finals appearances
0 Playoff series wins
4-8 playoff record
3 NBA All Defense Team
0 NBA Defensive Player of the year

In every scenario Kobe has a higher win percentage than MJ without Pip...marinate on that :lol

2009/2010 Kobe was a glorified Pippen in an era where the other NBA powers were waning. He won his MVP the same way TP won his, because someone else on the team carried the lion's share of the defensive load and allowed him to be offensively effective.

Also, it's well known that neither Kobe nor the last decade Lakers develop anyone, players or coaches. They extract talent from the NBA by means of strong handed, deep pocketed "negotiations" that lead to people like Shaq and Pau going to LA. No other team in the league save Boston would be able to attract that level of effective talent. Lebron went to play with his friend in Miami, but normally talent like that ends up in LA or Boston. So Kobe didn't turn Pau into anything. Funny that his brother is becoming such a force since he got to the team where Pau was, eh?
