I get tired of this MPG equivalent. It doesn't use fuel!

Yeah it saves fuel but how often do you change and how much is the battery?

No shit Sherlock, but it's a way for the gas car consumer to tell the distance it will be able to travel.

No it isn't, because electricity prices are not consistent. They need to be rated in KWH per mile, or miles per KWH. MPG equivalent also does not say how many miles you go on a full charge. Most cars go 300-400 miles on a full tank.

Fucking stupid. My diesel will go the same distance on a tank as that car will go on a tank, and I can pull a boat and haul about 6 people in the process.

How is that?

If they say it gets 85 miles per gallon but doesn't use gas, how big is the empty gas tank so we can figure the distance it can travel?

It's a billion cubic centemeters. Who the fuck cares. They say you learn something every day. And you want to learn about how far a car will go that you will never buy.

To each his own. I don't own a boat and I'm single, so a car that gets me around in style that is fun to drive and doesn't have an internal combustion engine would be perfect for me.

It is using the Joules in a gallon of gas compared with that same amount of Joules. A more honest way of putting it would be "Miles per X Joules" but the average person has no idea what a Joule is. Lowest common denominator.

guys don't be stupid these bmws will have a small gas 2ndary engine, thus the MPG value. you don't expect to go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds on pure electricity do you?

(i know it's possible but not on a full size fully loaded car)
