Sources in Israel say that the San Antonio Spurs, before the lockout began July 1, expressed the strongest interest in signing the 25-year-old. But sources closer to home indicate that the Spurs are not alone in their curiosity and that Pargo has piqued the interest of several NBA teams.

He opted out of his contract earlier this month, so he must be sure he'll be in the NBA next season. I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs said post lockout, they'd offer him a multi-year, minimum deal, with the first year guaranteed, like they did Neal.

Apparently he's extremely athletic and quick, an excellent ball handler and tough defender, but not a very good shooter or decision maker. They compare him to Bynum.

The requisite YouTube mix . . .

reminds me a little of jr smith. If he comes without the attitude, that would be great!

If true, it doesn't bode well for Joseph getting time in his first year. Now, we all knew that him not playing was a possibility, but things like this pretty much confirm that if true.

6'2" 219lbs, he seems to have a bit of weight for a guy his size?

It isn't a that surprising move.

Joseph is very young and will likely spend the year with the Toros. His first games with Canada NT confirm that he isn't ready for the NBA. Spurs need to add another PG.

The NBA vet FA market is very thin and weak this year. It's time for being a little creative and Spurs are surely encourage to do so after their success with Neal.

Jeremy Pargo has had a great year in Europe. He is arguable the best option if an NBA team wants to sign a PG from Europe. He started the season as an undersized scoring SG but he moved at the PG spot because of one of his teammate's injury (Doron Perkins). He did a good job at that spot and was a big reason why Maccabi reached the Euroleague final.

Pargo signed a 2-yr. extension on May 24th, so unless the contract has a special clause, he's already locked in with Maccabi.

Stein said that he opted out of his contract earlier this month.

Yeah, I saw that. It said Jeremy opted out before an Aug. 1st deadline. Thus, the "special clause" caveat but it's interesting that he would sign a 2-year contract with an opt-out clause 67 days into it. Peculiar, since the NBA lockout and disagreement between sides seems to show no signs of resolution.

Yeah, you are right, that is definitely a little weird for sure.

Wait, I'm missing something. He's 6'2" right? I don't get the Bynum comparison.

Maccabi just signed Theo Papaloukas. might be an indicator that they prepare for a possible departure of Pargo. (and the return of Farmar to the NBA, after the lockout)

Nice to know the Spurs are just throwing away first round picks and 6th man candidates these days. They must want the #1 pick again.

I just read on IBN that Pargo's contract situation isn't that clear. Maccabi and Pargo's agent have a disagreement on whether or not his opt out clause could be used to free him of his contract.

It seems that Pargo is really committed at playing in the NBA:

Cory Joseph performances with Canada NT showed that he wasn't ready even if he had obvious qualities. Jeremy Pargo to Spurs would make a lot of sense for both sides.

And he should be fun to watch:
