One is a .22 that's just for fun the other is to own a piece of history for less than $150 to answer your question.....nothing

Good choices there....everyone needs a .22 and a Mosin...go for it....one other to consider...do you have a shotgun? If not I would probably get a basic Remington 870 first, then the M&P and the Mosin....either way you can't lose.

Well, I personally prefer a 22-250 for a rifle. Something strait an accurate. The best 22-250 I ever drulled over was heavy, with an octagonal barrel over 1" wide!

Who am I to listen to though. I like weapons, but they are so low on my priority list. I'm a but out of touch with them.

I would personally get a lighter .22 however. Build on a Ruger 10/22, add a Volquartsen trigger, Hogue stock and perhaps a carbon fiber bull barrel (though not necessary), throw a BSA scope on it and kill every turtle for 200 miles.

Good thread. I'm taking a trip to Baghdad this Fall and I was looking for a gun that'll help me take out as many civilians as possible. Keep in mind I'm not a pro, I just do this for sport.

What gun do ya'll recommend?

I've got 3 Mosins. Got a nice M38 that I want to get rid of cheap. Going to keep the other 2.

I know where you can get a converted Saiga 12 with 19" barrel duracoated in OD green. Comes with MD arms 20 round drum, factory 5 round mag, and factory cleaning kit. Has the following accessories:

Carolina barrel shroud
Carolina SS trigger guard
Tromix extended bolt handle
Tapco saw style pistol grip
Tapco G2 trigger group
Chaos Quad rail with HK sights
Magpul MOE stock adjustable tube
MD arms V-plug

The guys needs cash and has reduced the price to $1500.

if you want to get ready for the zombie apocalypse that's the bad boy you want.

BTW, if you don't know what a Saiga 12 is it's basically a 12 gauge AK47. You can google pictures.

Get a street sweeper and be done.

I remember all those cheap Street Sweeper 12gauge shotguns in the shotgun news back in the 1980s. Thought about getting one back then, but I never did. I didn't know you could still get them.
Probably were crap quality, but still... kind of cool if they worked ok...

I have a saiga .223 carbine, but after two short sessions at the range, it quit going bang. Had to take it to Don's Guns for warranty work. So I'm not sure about the quality of saigas. When I asked Don what was wrong with it when I went back to pick it up, he just said..."it's modern" lol...

regarding the OP, I don't know what people see in those .22 AR-15s. Why not a real .223?

I would personally get a lighter .22 however.

I am referring to the Striker, not some low rent knockoff.

You cannot get the Striker in the US without jumping a few hoops. NFA weapon that ATF designated as a destructive device.

:lol dayum that's fire power in that video. Big ass mag too. On attack of the show a while back they had a segment where they visited a annual gun show or something to that nature where regular people can fire all kinds of weapons. Most look like some you couldn't find in a gun store. Talking huge guns. They charge a certain $ per round to have fun shooting. I wish I remember what it was. It looked really fun to do.

This is my mp 15-22. I tricked it out since this is my fun gun. Great training tool for your .223....and cheap to practice with too.
