My daughter attends a NISD elementary school here and told me today that they are not served milk anymore and are given water for there lunch drink. Is this a part of the Perry budget or a White House caused problem?

Maybe you could check with the school and see what's up instead of believing your elementary age daughter...just a thought.

Then again, I trust you will get the correct answers you seek in this forum.

Why aren't you homeschooling her and providing her with food from your own pocket?

You get free water and complain! Here's another example of entitlement mentality!

My 4th grader is not into politics and wouldn't come up with this herself but thanks anyways!

I think it's likely the 4th grader was quoted out of context.

You are to blame. You are the one who enrolled your daughter at that school.

Milk is too fattening and leads to lactose intolerance.

Water is good for the kids, and with 110 degree days around here, necessary as well.

When mine was in 4th grade, he came home with a note and told me the school was going to look at his privates and needed my permission. The note said the school was screening for curvature of the spine and that boys and girls would be screened in private areas.

Not necessarily, it wouldn't be the first time teachers tried to influence parents votes through their kids.

My guess is that they got tired of the kids that didn't want milk wasting it and made water the default beverage with milk as an option if the child wanted it. Their published menu clearly states that milk is available at every meal.

local school cafeteria drink selection clearly falls within the executive power of the POTUS. but why stop there? I bet you can trace this all the way to the UN.

In third grade, we had this teacher who said that Hanukkah was a Mexican holdiday. A Jewish boy in the class tried to explain that it was a Jewish holiday. So she sent him to the office.

Again, no way they were paying $0.09 per 8 oz.

Check this out:

PISD Milk bid prices (http://www.pisd.edu/about.us/purchasing/2011-025.htm)

That was the 2011 bid prices. Here is the 2009 bid prices:

2009 PISD Milk bid prices (http://www.pisd.edu/about.us/purchasing/2009-020.htm)

I'll bet the bid is similar for NISD.

Now consider this, explains a USDA ruling, and a posted link from the school:

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS AND/OR FOOD ALLERGIES (http://info.nisd.net/sites/nisd.net/files/129/websitespecialdietinformatio1112.pdf):

USDA has issued a new ruling to school districts addressing milk substitutes for children with allergies.

The Child Nutrition Department can no longer substitute juice or water for milk.

Students that are not able to tolerate milk due to lactose intolerance will now have the ability to choose lactose free milk or soy milk as an equivalent milk substitute.

The lactose free milk or soy milk will be available to all students receiving a breakfast or lunch or after school snack and to students that wish to purchase the lactose free milk or soy milk without purchase of a meal.

It will also no longer be necessary for the Child Nutrition Department to request or maintain information on a student’s milk tolerance since the lactose free milk or soy milk will be available to all students.
So...

Who at the school is lying to you redskin? Or do you think the school is in willful violation?
