I'm so excited and terrified I get nauseous when I think about it too much, so much is at stake here for the future of BSU football. does BSU really belong among college football's elite? or are they just an overrated storybook team with a handful of epic Cinderella wins in recent years?

this is a turning point in BSU's quest for staying power, for legitimacy. right now we're still DIRT POOR compared to all other top-50 football programs, it's almost impossible to sustain this kind of success without significant income. we've had an amazing run of great coaches and QBs, each one somehow better than the last, but that can't last forever. we need the BCS bowl money, we need the ESPN love, we need to keep public perception up until it becomes a reality, we need to turn all the new bandwagon fans into lifelong, financially contributing fans, to make the treasure valley care as much about it's football team as people in the southeast do theirs, we need to keep the young football recruits of America in awe of this team's success, we need to keep Chris Peterson. a win against Georgia, a genuine EEEEESS-EEEEEEE-CEEEEEEE team, and another BCS bowl game, will do all that. a loss will cause the illusion to come crashing down, and BSU to fade back into relative obscurity.

and honestly, this might be the most overrated team in College Football history. I mean, to fool the media and the polls is one thing, but to fool Vegas?? 3 point favorites against one of the better SEC teams? is there a single player on the BSU roster who even got an offer from Georgia? if you put all these players on Vanderbilt, would Vanderbuilt be ranked in the top 10? the top 25 even? and then I read that Georgia has actually been preparing/game-planning for BSU more than BSU has been for Georgia this summer? :wtf:smchode: starting to feel sick... BSU absolutely MUST. WIN. THIS. GAME.

I think Georgia wins a close one. Will probably be the best game of the weekend though.

Boise State will win. Their QB is too good for Georgia.

Oregon vs LSU should be good too. However, with LSU's QB suspended they might get killed.

Jordan Jefferson being suspended is a blessing in disguise for LSU. They're a much better team when they're using a white QB who isn't flashy at all but isn't making spear chucker mistakes.

They're on the road, though. They can't get away with the cheap shots and late hits they get away with on the Smurf Turf.

Jarrett Lee and Les Miles will be the goods, fortifying each other from the opening whistle.

True, but Georgia just isn't that good of an SEC team. I think BSU should win by at least 10 points.

This.

LSU is definitely gonna be fine with the senior Lee, who won't even need to be relied upon since LSU is a run heavy team. And I don't see why everyone is so high on Jefferson. Other than making a couple of ###### plays outside of the pocket, the guy is a horrible quarterback

Sons it's pretty comical Boise State wants to be considered a legit, elite program yet they still have that joke of a field.

I agree JJ being out for LSU won't be much of a factor for them this season, although it still might be tough for the first game, seeing he didn't get to go through fall or spring ball as the 1st string. Should be a great matchup between Oregon and LSU.

UGA has more talent, is bigger on both lines by a 40 or 50 lbs average and has the best QB in the SEC. That being said, it didn't do shit for this team last year. I want them to win, but I have little confidence in Richt's coaching right now. Peterson has been outstanding since hawkins left. BSU has the advantage there.

Btw, Or st fan wouldn't know a good team if it bit you in the ass. UGA not a good SEC team :lol When was the last time your team played in a meaningful game that didn't involve trying to knock off an actual good team?

Dude, Georgia went 6-7 last year including 0-4 against teams in the top 25. That is not good! :lol

I'm totally aware of that, Texas went 5-7. Are they a bad Big 12 team? Last year has nothing to do with the next in college football. I see UGA going 9-3 this year personally.

Yes, Texas is a bad Big-12 team at the moment. That will become evident when they play UCLA. When UGA gets smacked around by BSU you will realize their chances of going 9-3 are slim to none.

And it's obvious why they have that cuckold field when they're the only team in college football that has worn the same home unis every single home game for as long as anyone can remember.

I see Georgia winning. I think they're going to have a hellacious defense this year, with Kwame Geathers being the anchor of it. Also think Alec Ogletree will bust some heads in the game.

...but if Kellen Moore gets time, he will kill you.

well looks like BSU is holding out the 3 Dutchmen while their eligibility is investigated. :rolleyes

they are vital players and we would have won had they played :depressed

apparently the new compliance officer guy is from TCU, hmmm

oh and fuck TCU, they're more overrated than BSU, "oh that Defense" "oh that Texas talent and speed" :rolleyes they would never have sniffed that rose bowl if BSU was in the MWC last year.

also, the Big 12(-2.5) could put an end to all the whining and complaining about the blue turf if they just invited BSU to the conference ith the stipulation that they ditch the blue. problem solved :)

Well, that was embarrassing for UGA. :depressed Mark Richt must love having 8 months to prepare and having one of the worst offensive game plans I have ever seen. The spread? The spread? UGA has never run the spread, nor has Richt or OC Mike Bobo then you break it out against the #5 team in the country in the first game of the season?!

Props to Boise and Petersen. They didn't just win, they outplayed and really outcoached UGA in an embarrassing fashion. Here's to hoping CMR is gone after this season. The steady decline in the program over the last 4 years is like a slow-mo train wreck.

wow what a relief.

I had to pinch myself watching Moore carve up Georgia like they were just another WAC defense, that just couldn't be real, that's supposed to be an S - E - C defense out there :wow

mad props to Peterson again, there just isn't a more precise, methodical team in CFB than his Broncos, perfectly executed, mistake free football except for those 2 young safeties.

have to agree with romad though, didn't look like we got Georgia's A game or even B game on offense, they should have been throwing down the field a lot more (just not at Gavins). did they even scout BSU? the secondary was a question mark even before Febis got held out. and when Georgia attacked the safeties, they usually had success. and their running game seemed to be just running for the sake of running, expecting to wear down the BSU D-line, but once again Georgia should have known that the D-line is BSU's strongest (other than QB) and deepest position. even an SEC team isn't going to win the war of attrition against our D-line, it goes 8 or 9 deep. and on defense, though they kept the deep ball and the running game in check, they didn't pressure Moore and they gave him the underneath routs all night :wow you just don't do that, that's like giving Welker a 10 yard cushion against the Pats. plus, you're Georgia! your CBs are talented and FAST, why are you guarding against the deep ball, should have been playing man coverage with the CB's hitting the WRs at the line, and blitzing Moore all the time.

anyways, I hope Georgia can turn it around and make this a quality win for BSU, but they won't even make .500 if they keep playing like they did on Saturday.
