well...for a 12 team league, it wouldn't be horrible..Jennings, Marshall, MJD, and Hillis isn't too bad. Probably finish middle of the pack in a 12 team league.

Your starting RBs are beast...WR's and TE's are sketchy though. Jennings is a stud but Rodgers has 5 different receivers he goes to. The TE's are decent, but 2nd or 3rd tier fantasy ones. Miami is a good defense, but they suck at forcing turnovers. You're going to need a big year out of Matty Ice.

Decent draft, imho.

My ESPN draft (yesterday):

QB - Drew Brees (keeper)
RB - Peyton Hillis
RB - Reggie Bush
WR - Calvin Johnson
WR - Wes Welker
Flex - Julio Jones
TE - Kellen Winslow
IDP - Terrell Suggs
K - Alex Henery
D/ST - Philadelphia Eagles

BN - Donald Driver
BN - James Harrison
BN - Danny Woodhead
BN - Lee Evans
BN - Jerome Harrison
BN - Brent Celek
BN - Texans D/ST
BN - Donovan McNabb
BN - Chad Henne

I think Bush is going to kill it this year if he stays healthy. He's the Dolphins feature back, and the only one they trust right now. Rookie Daniel Thomas looked like shit in preseason. This is a PPR league too, and captain checkdown Chad Henne will go to Reggie Bush multiple times per game. My RB and QB depth blows, but that's only one week I have to worry about anyways.

Decent team. Bush/Henne is a good combo for bench at least. Teams will have to decide whether they want to eliminate Bush or Marshall. So either way, if Henne can capitalize against teams eliminating Bush by throwing TDs to Marshall or Hartline, then points for you. And if Bush can capitalize against teams playing to stop Marshall, points for you.

Lee Evans is a really good pickup too. Looks like Flacco's deep target right now. I dont know about Julio Jones, because they also have Roddy White, Harry Douglas, and Tony Gonzales.

And I would pick up Stevan Ridley over Woodhead tbh.

Hate picking 1st...you grab the stud RB...then you basically take a nap for awhile and hope that at #20 you can either get an elite QB...OR you grab the best available RB/WR if Vick and Brady are gone.

QB's were gone so i had to take Steven Jackson at #20. Homer pick? I dont think so....i'm not gonna draft a WR like Hakeem Knicks or Dwayne Bowe at #20 just because i took a RB #1 and the QB's are gone.

I'd rather pick in the middle of the order.

I like Reggie Bush this year too. I wanted to take him but that Week 5 bye just didn't work for me. So I took Beanie Wells as my #3 RB. :rolleyes

I love Amendola as a 6th-7th round pick. Wes Welker Jr- even come from the same school.

Think Steve Johnson is going to repeat his 2010 heroics, DD?

DUNCANownsKOBE

Beanie Wells might be productive this year just because he's the workhorse by default and should get 20+ touches a game (assuming he stays healthy which is a big if). He's not too helpful in a PPR league though since he's Cedric Benson pt. 2 when it comes to catching out of the backfield.

I'm a big supporter of St. Louis's offense this year. I think Sims-Walker is gonna kill it, Stephen Jackson will find the endzone more, and Amendola won't light the world on fire but he'll put up solid weekly production.

Not a big fan of LeSean McCoy tho. When healthy Ronnie Brown is the better player and is gonna steal a lot of touches from McCoy.

Fantasy question for yous guys...who should I start this week in my espn league:

Flex...gotta choose between Julio Jones (@ATL) and Donald Driver (NOH). Leaning towards DD.

D/ST...Normally I would start the Eagles D (@STL) every week, but the Texans are home against the Colts, and it looks like the immobile slow-release Kerry Collins will be starting. The Texans will probably jump out to a 2-3 score lead and go after Collins on D. It's a risky proposition, but this could be a great week for their D.

Finally, at IDP I have a choice between Suggs and James Harrison--they play each other Week 1. Leaning towards Suggs.

Jones. Driver has slowed down tremendously and has dropped to the 4th option in that O.

Tillman is a pretty good CB but he's going to draw Roddy. Jennings/Bowman can and will be exploited.

JJ will get the looks.

Take the Texans and Harrison.

I'm starting the Texans in every league this week if/when Peyton is declared out. It's not too risky given how bad the Colts offense would be and how aggressive Wade Phillips' defenses are.

Driver is still a starter and he has a more favorable matchup on D--and he's at home. JJ is playing at Soldier field. I do like how ATL incorporates JJ into the running game though w/ reverses and end-arounds. He looked good doing that in the PS. Tough call, gonna be a game time decision unless DD has injury issues.

I'm going with the Texans D/ST:tu

Harrison and Suggs are kind of a wash...the reason why I liked Suggs is because he's had good games against them in the past........and Harrison will have to contend with an O-line that features McKinnie and Oher--for an edge rusher he's gonna have a tough time with either of them.

I'm not sold on McCoy either, but with the 10th pick I was kind of forced into taking him IMO.

This league, based on what I know of fantasy and the settings, seems to be geared towards RB's (since you can start 3 and there are no pts per recption). My logic was to try and get really good backs, get some solid wr's that have upside and to take value qb's late. I think I executed on the strategy, I'm just unsure about some of my guys. But I look at it like this: in a strong rb league, I have McCoy/Turner/Felix as my starting 3 and my 4th back is Benson which isn't bad at all (probably a lot of people's third stringer).

I need Miles/Marshall to have good years.

No, you're good at RB. Shady McCoy is the league's next 1000/1000 guy, be it this year or next. If you play in a PPR league he will smash. Felix Jones is the unquestioned starter on Dallas--no more 3 RB committee. Michael Turner doesn't catch a lot of balls but he's a beast rusher. Benson is meh, but not terrible as a 4th option. Your top 3 RBs probably beat anybody else's top 3 imo

No ppr Deadly. So you're saying Blake is a massive douche? So where do I need to look to improve or should I sit tight? What is a better 4th back over Benson?

That hurts you big time. McCoy is a monster there...he led a team with D-Jax and Maclin on it in receptions with 78. You're still good at RB...maybe put a flyer out for the best available RB on the waiver wire (but not now). You could definitely do better at WR, although Marshall is going to have a big year imo. Bess is basically useless w/o PPR though. Holmes is the #1 in NYJ, but they're a ground and pound team. He's at best a Flex option. Sanchez loves going to him around the redzone though, so you might cash in there. Jimmy Graham is a great pick at TE, and I'm guessing you got him as a steal in the later rounds.

D/ST, WR and QB are your weak points...Get another defense if you can. At QB you can probably make do with those guys. At WR you need help

just an opinion.

But if they like the team to win anything as is, then yeah, pretty dumb. imo.

In a 10 team league, you should have been able to draft a 5 star caliber that would carry you or two 4 star players. All I see are a bunch of 3 stars that might have 4 star weeks every now and then.

I hate the Cowboys so definitely not a homer pick IMHO. :lol at you ragin' on my Fins pick when one was the 15th pick in the draft.

Reynaldo give you two thumbs up. Way up had you snagged Reggie.

When it's 6 points, I go QB in the first round every time.

Ben should be your starter every week even though he's a boom or bust type QB.

I bet there's a better D on your free agent list than NO.

There might even be a better TE.

If you were in a PPr league, you'd probably be in great shape with Marshall and McCoy, but as is, I think you are shaky at WR and RB.

Honestly, in a 10 team league, you should have at least one top player in some category, but I'm not even sure you have a top 5 player in any category.

Most backs are injury prone or injured it seems. I'm not sold on my RBs either but you could make most backs seem like potential busts. Benson is my 4th back and I don't know many 4th backs that are great or that rushed for 1000 yards (given Palmer is gone and teams can stack the box on him).

McCoy definitely drops down a few w/o PPR...but at least you'll have his receiving yards. As for Turner, there's no defensive coordinator in the league who's stacking the box with Roddy and JJ on the outside--he'll be fine.

You need help at QB though...you'll be shuffling through those 3 every week.

Since you're #1 on the waiver wire, use that wisely and jump on the next impact player that makes himself known, be it WR or RB

If everything plays out like it should on paper, you'll be fine. But in reality, Felix is injury prone and has yet to handle a full season as the #1 back in Dallas, McCoy is a solid player but 9 TD's last season isn't special for a fantasy back, Turner's per game production has dropped each year with Atlanta and he's approaching 30, and Benson is going to suck. Like DD said, if you can identify one of the uknown breakout RBs in the first couple weeks, and there's always going to be at least one, then you'll be in good shape.

It would be hard at this point to land an upper-echelon fantasy QB unless you were able to fleece somebody in a trade--which would end up being vetoed anyway.

Ben and Flacco will probably be your main guys after Week 1...can't see Freeman duplicating the success he had last year.

Just play it by matchup...Week 2, 3, and 4 you'll probably get some big points with Ben cause they play Seattle, Indy, and Houston. Freeman plays the 49ers Week 5...etc, etc. You might be alright

Chad Henne has been given "full reign" to audible at the line of scrimmage this season.Coach Tony Sparano is known for his micromanaging, but he is giving Henne some freedom this season. And with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll instilling confidence, Henne has compiled a 93.4 quarterback rating through three preseason games. We're not saying the corner has been turned here, but Henne appears much more comfortable in the pocket. On a related note, Brandon Marshall is looking like a steal at his current fourth-round ADP. It seemed like such a reach to take one of those two there with who was left on the board.

Yes. Just think of the 4 games he'll have against the Raiders and Broncos alone. Chiefs aren't exactly a great D either. Ben plays in a run-first offense that has another world class defense in his division.

Beanie Wells is the only RB in AZ besides Chester Taylor, who was picked up just a couple days ago. He's injury prone like Felix, but once again you have to keep in mind the division Beanie plays in...Seahawks and Niners are pop warner teams.

Maybe, but if I'm in his shoes, no way. Especially in a league where passing TDs are worth 6 points. It's not like anything bad happens if you propose the trade tho so you might as well. I lead my league in proposed trades pretty much every year :lol

DUNCANownsKOBE
09-08-2011, 06:28 PM
I doubt the other guy would do that. Pulling off 2 for 1 trades (where you get the 1 who's the best of the 3) are tough and usually can only be done when another team is in desperation mode

DUNCANownsKOBE
09-08-2011, 06:34 PM
Yes I would do that if I were you.

On paper it is fair, but it doesnt make any sense for him since the downgrade from Wallace to Holmes hurts him more than the upgrade from Eli to Freeman (if it is even an upgrade at all) helps him. When you offer a 2 for 1, it doesn't have a shot at getting accepted unless the other guy is getting two guys who he'd start almost every week. Check back at your draft history, if he took Eli with Freeman still on the board, he has no reason to do the trade.

DPG21920

Well I see your point, but my logic is that with Eli as your number one, you are going to want someone else to at least make a decision with on a weekly basis. IMO only top flight players you don't worry about subbing, but with guys like ELI, you probably should have at least one other person so you can make a decision on a weekly basis. To me, that is the value. He's getting a decent REC in Holmes to replace Wallace, and to make up for that he's getting a guy in Freeman who's just as good (with higher upside if he just repeats what he did last year) as ELI to where he can use him on any given week since ELI isn't a sure thing.

Last question for today, what would should I be willing to give up for a top QB like Romo in addition to Big Ben in a package in your opinion that would improve my team.

Give me an example and also maybe a package for a better QB like Vick. Thanks.

DUNCANownsKOBE
09-08-2011, 06:46 PM
For a semi elite QB like Romo/Schaub, if you can give up Ben + someone who'd sit on your bench more often than not, do. The way I see it, that is an overall upgrade to your starting lineup which means it'll lead to more points every week. Losing a bench player might hurt you during a couple bye weeks but the upgrade at QB is worth it.

For an elite QB like Vick/Rodgers, you would probably have to give up so much it wouldn't be worth it until someone got desperate. From my experience, unless you have an idiot in your league, almost no trades happen involving players taken early before the first few weeks of the season are over and someone starts 0-3 or 1-2 w/ a significant injury.

DPG21920
09-08-2011, 06:52 PM
My friend might be willing to do Freeman/Miles for Vick? That would leave me with Vick/Big Ben/Flacco at QB and only Marshall/Holmes/Garcon at WR though.

I could probably trade Ben for a decent WR though? This is so much more confusing to me than BB because I don't know the players as well.

WR- M. Colston, D. Driver, C. Ochocinco, D. Bryant, D. McCluster (will be dropped)
TE- O. Danils
D/ST- Jets
K- Longwell

Are passing, receiving, and rushing td's all worth 6? You're stacked at RB, TE is somewhat decent, but you're hurting at the WR position--especially with Colston out for a month now. Still, depending on how your league scores--you could be in pretty good shape imo

All TD are worth 6 points. No point per reception.

Agreed....STRUGGLING at WR. Colston is gonna be the death of me. Guess I'll be going with Ocho and Dez Bryant.

Which RBs should I feel the most comfortable playing. (pick 3)

I like Mendenhall and Jackson. Steelers historically run the ball, and I think Bradford will take a lil heat off of Jackson this year.
Unsure about the rest. Blount had a good season last year, Benson gets a lot of touches (but its the Bengals), and Reggie Bush is gonna get the most carries on the Dolphins I heard from their coach. (but its the Dolphins)

I don't know you...but I'll hear any comment. I definately don't think this roster will win the whole league...but a 6.5 out of 10. That's failing. Think I did a lil better than that.

If you think I did bad...you should of seen my friends during the draft. Guy with the 2nd pick picked Ray Rice. Then in the 3rd round he picked the Steelers D. You wanna talk about a 6.5 out of 10......

its not a school grade scale.

scale of 1-10

1= pure suck
5= average
10=the rest of the league is fucked

First round pick completely wasted with the Jamaal Charles injury.
I was offered Frank Gore for Deion Branch today. Should I take it?

WR: Branch/Maclin/D.Bryant/Henderson/Ward/Cobb
RB: McFadden/P.Thomas/Moreno/Cadillac (who I picked up after I dropped Charles)

He also has Mike Tolbert who I think he would also get rid of, if a better option than Gore.

Was this some inside joke or real :lol?

Should have posted this in this thread instead of the other league's thread:

DD, did my fantasy draft for my first money league (hate drafting this early), but wanted to see what you think. I am not thrilled with it because I took so many risks, but it at least has solid potential IMO.

10 team league, QB, RB, RB, W/TE, W/TE, W/TE, W/R/TE, K, DEF, BEN (5)

Passing TD: 3
Rushing/Receiving TD: 6
Throwing: 1 point per 20 yards, 3 point bonus for 300+
Rushing/Receiving: 1 point per 10 yards, 3 point bonus for 300+

My team:

QB: Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler & Carson Palmer
RB: Matt Forte, Darren McFadden, Ryan Matthews, CJ Spiller & Donald Brown
WR: Miles Austin, Percy Harvin, DeSean Jackson, Denarius Moore & Greg Little
K: Sebastian Janikowski
DEF: Buffalo Bills

Any thoughts besides Blake?

Standard ESPN league. My roster is as follows:

QB: Peyton Manning/Andrew Luck
WR: Calvin Johnson, Demaryius Thomas, Marques Colston, Dwayne Bowe, and Michael Crabtree.
RB: Frank Gore, Shonne Green, Michael Bush, Peyton Hillis, LaGarrette Blount, and Beanie Wells.
TE: Rob Gronkowski
Defense: Chicago Bears
Kicker: Dan Bailey

I picked up Bush and Wells through free agency, so Im happy about that. I probably could use another TE, but that'll come later. What is everyone's thoughts on the roster?

@DPG, solid roster. Philip Rivers should have a bounceback season after last years lackluster campaign. Cutler is not a bad choice either. Carson Palmer could be a steal if he develops a good chemistry with his offense. He had flashes of good play last season. You have a great running back core, but Forte may not get as many points due to Bush possibly being a goal line back. In addition, the Matthews injury kind of sucks, but he should be a good back throughout the season. Spiller will be good if Jackson were to go down, and Brown did pretty well with the Colts last season, even with how bad the QB situation was.
Your wide receiver lineup is a bit weak. Miles Austin is always a good pick, but DeSean Jackson is a risk. He and Maclin both would cancel each other out quite a bit fantasy wise last season, so be prepared for some weeks of low stats.

All in all, I'd say you have a good team.

I'm not big on your QB's, but obviously with Peyton there is great potential. Your #1 & 2 wideouts are very soild, but I'd be concerned with the RB core. Having Gronk is huge, but I'd be concerned with my QB/RB situation and look for opportunities to hit up waivers for a QB and be on the lookout for a trade for a RB.

Re: my roster: I got Palmer with the 14th pick in the draft so I feel that was really good value and I am hoping he plays well because I will have great back ups and potential to trade Cutler/Palmer and still be solid (I'll roll with Philip most every week and I think he will pay off).

Matthews I got with the last pick of the 3rd so I didn't want to grab him but I felt that essentially the 4th round was just too much to pass up. WR's definitely are my weakest spot IMO on paper, but I had to be a little weaker somewhere and felt I at least got solid wide recievers although not spectacular with Austin/Jackson/Harvin

I agree on the QB situation. I grabbed Peyton with hopes that he'd return to excellence. However, if he goes down, Ill be in quite a bit of trouble. Luck should be good, but he probably won't be huge fantasy wise for a couple of more years. Carson Palmer is available in free agency right now, so Im keeping an eye on him. More than likely Blount will be the one I drop for him. My RB is certainly weak. I ran with WR a bit early in the draft, and Gore was the "best" available at the time. Im definitely keeping an eye on FA right now. Hoping a nice gem shows up early in the season. If anything, Im hoping Hillis will be great.

Carson for 14th isnt bad at all. If he performs well, he'll definitely be a great steal/trade bait for you. Greg Little, upon review, may be a good pickup as well. He's one of the few decent WR on the Browns, so maybe he'll have a good year IF the Browns get their QB situation sorted out. I don't know what the other rosters in your league are, but from that, you should have a good shot at playoffs if your players stay healthy.

I went with upside more than what happened last year, and from what I've heard and read about certain players (Charles, Martin, and Jones). I really gambled on quite a few picks but I think the reward could be huge.

You weren't making fun of anything. You did the same thing last year only to come around and say "actually, it was good", then you disappeared as I was in first place most of the season and in the finals :lol

Also, you talking about getting "beat up" is hilarious. But again, I won't make fun of you because don't think it's cool - but I can see why others do all the time.

I always have a mediocre (at best) draft and when I have the time to throw at it always do better than anyone else with trades and waiver wire pick ups. In 2010 I had a mediocre draft but won my league because I picked Peyton Hillis and Brandon Lloyd up off waivers.

I had a similar 2010 season. Absolute shitty draft, but I picked up Vick, Lloyd, and Hillis off of waivers. Too bad my season was ended due to losing in the playoffs by 5 points. Never did have a great defense that season...:bang
