Cell phone use on speaker in public places?

Do any of you do this? Specifically, on my commute on the train in the morning a girl in a seat next to meet spent the entire ride on her cell phone while it was on speaker.

Is this a social faux pas or am I just cranky?

That's very rude. I've also noticed more and more using that BoostMobile walkie-talkie-type thing (the one that beeps). I suppose it is some kind of international service, as I've only ever heard people speaking Spanish on it---and it is annoying as hell also.

I didn't hear any beeps just this girl conistently talking about face book and weekend plans at 6am. Spurm is right in that it is much louder than normal conversation, however. I usually wouldn't notice as I normally am listening to a podcast, lecture, or music via headphones but I left my ear buds at home this morning.

What I hate is people who take their cell conversation into the bathroom, and right into the stall, and proceed to drop their bombs right in the commode, complete with loud gas effects.
