How is performamce, cpu temp and power consumption?

And can it be customisable to accommodate more, let's say 12-16 tb hdd?

Wow. 64gb of memory. I wonder why a Thunderbolt port isn't included. At least it's not on that pic you posted. I still don't know why they don't equip them with blu-ray drives. Especially with this, and I'm guessing here, flagship product. That Magic Trackpad is one awesome product. I cant stand using mice these days.

Apple has been updating the hardware to Thunderbolt as they come out with a new releases of hardware. Since they haven't ramped up the Mac Pros in a while, they haven't got it yet. Only the iMacs, Mac minis, Macbook Pros, and Macbook Airs do. However, probably just a matter of time before the Pros get it.

After the last round of NVidia recalls and goofs, I imagine they got tired of replacing and repairing NVidia's mistakes.

As much as I like all the cool Trackpad gestures, I still don't understand why anyone would want to deal with a trackpad if they don't have to (i.e. not on a portable).

I like my Magic Mouse.....mouse + gestures FTW.

Well, a FULLY loaded Mac Pro is 15K. Realistically, who the hell needs TWO 6-core processors? I shit on processor heavy games/apps with a single 3570k overclocked to 4.5 Ghz. 64 GB of RAM? People think I'm insane for buying 16 GB.. More than 3 TB HDD??? That damn thing will end up failing before you fill 5 GB.

Also that setup includes DUAL Apple monitors, which I'm guessing are Retina level or better, them shits are probably upwards of 1K a piece.

Depends on what you need... you can spend easily over $1K-$2K for high-end server/pro setups.

We have a couple of servers with dual-Xeons and the CPUs alone will put you over $1K...

Sure, you could build an i7-4930K machine that would have a faster CPU and be cheaper than the $2999 quad-core Mac Pro, but it would be impossible to build a Xeon E5 v2-based machine for less than Apple sells it with these FirePro GPUs and PCIe SSDs. Numerous PC sites have already confirmed exactly that.

Yeah, I'm a fan of their products, I just can't justify spending that kind of money. I'm still hunting for that elusive "great deal" on a used or refurb Macbook Air.
