So what do you guys want in future video games? I mean, yeah we know the graphics are going to get better and all that but what is truly the next step in video games?

For instance, I really want a Gran Turismo/Forza type game where it uses something like Google Maps to render a world that I'm familiar with. How about going down I-35 from 1604 to downtown San Antonio in a Bugatti Veyron going 200 mph? Something I couldn't do in real life but seeing San Antonio pass me by at those speeds would be crazy lol. It would be cool if various cities were completely rendered and let's say I may never in my life visit Shanghai but I have the option of driving through it's virtual streets in this particular game.

Or how about a Call of Duty-type game where I can select the city where the action takes place and the whole city is destructible? I could be blowing up the Alamodome or the AT&T Center! :lol

I understand the limitations in today's technology where something like this is impossible but that's why the thread is titled "future". The amount of computing power and storage needed for something like that is immense.

My two wishes, other than photo-realistic graphics, are improved AI and stories that branch significantly towards a different conclusion depending on even the littlest things I do. I understand they did that in Mass Effect but only to a small degree. I want something where the story completely branches off saying I do something different. And yeah.. AI and Clipping need to be improved by a lot.

I would love to see a car driving sim much like flight simulator. With real streets and cities. Sometimes I pick a place somewhere in the world and start looking around with street view. There's some really great places out there.

I don't know that the tech isn't ready for that yet. I think it might be, the question is will it sell? I think it would, but then again I'm probably not representative of the market out there.

I would like a Grand Theft Auto game that doesn't suck monkey fuck. GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas were incredible, and then they follow it up with that pussy ass Niko in a Saints Row ripoff? smh

But the driver should also have a gun and be able to score crack and hookers and not die when he wrecks.

I want a game thats like Project Zomboid: http://projectzomboid.com/blog/

With the Graphics and gameplay of Rage.....

combined with the RPG elements of Fallout 3....

and make it an open world, do/build what you want like Minecraft where you can dig bunkers and build structures straight out of the existing pre-generated landscape.

And be able to host "survival" servers.

Zombies could range anywhere from L4D or "Two Weeks Later" super-fast zombies to the old school John Romero slow-moving zombies.

Basically a true to life zombie survival game in an open world with awesome graphics and be able to build yourself a fort and try to survive as long as you can with multiplayer support coupled with resource gathering to build your own defenses and weapons like Minecraft.

I love Zombies.

The only people that hate zombies are those that would definately become one of them because they cant survive the apocolypse. :p:

Dont Worry Elnono, I'll bash your skull in quickly when it happens. :toast

I just don't dig the dead-come-back-alive thing. Never been a fan of horror/zombie movies.

Like Yahtzee says, it would be nice to play a game where you're not just being either really good or really evil. A little middle ground would be nice.

I would like the whole "real person" fps game. There some video out on YouTube that has how it would/could be. The whole real city ,blowing up the alamo would be cool too :lol

Some type 4d gaming would be cool too. Kinda like what they had in the movie "gamer"

I've always wanted to see a game that allows modern day weapons and troops to go into the past and change the course of history. I would like to see it not force you to do certain things, not start the mission over if you wanted to kill someone other than your primary target, like you could go into the 1700s and kill an entire army just for the hell of it, of course things would change back in your world.

I know there are some hints at games like that, but they almost always involve mutants or zombies. I fucking hate mutants and zombies games. Shooting and endless stream of dead people isn't my idea of a good FPS. It's fun for a while, but it's not entrenching.

Basically I want more freedom to be an asshole (in the game, already an asshole IRL) and not be forced into the creator's idea of a character.

How about a version of JFK: Reloaded where you target Jackie instead?

Getting Jackie also would be cool, with one shot.

I like sniper games, but the majority of them have too many automatic sequences and there's no free roaming. That's what I loved about COD MW, just when the Sgt says "hold your fire, don't alert the guards" that's when I start squeezing them off. If I wanted to hold my fire, I wouldn't buy a shooter. Everything must die.

How about an open-world MMORPG where you and your clan can claim land and build your own base, then defend it against other massive clans!!

Oh wait, Shadowbane did that (and was fucking awesome when it worked, I might add)......

Lets throw in some guns for the little COD and MW kiddies who dont know what a true FPS is since they never played anything before Quake 3..... That should build up hype.

I think the next step is to combine WoW with Minecraft: they both have a massive multi-player element, but RPGs like WoW have always had problems with players changing the world the way it is possible in Minecraft. Just imagine WoW servers where each zone on a continent was controlled by a really large guild, and they could do whatever they wanted in it... some guild members would be mostly builders, enhancing their little worlds... there would be warriors (armies) too for defense/attack... tacticians to place traps and build defenses, etc. The world itself would react to changes, you could have natural disasters, invasions, etc.

This would be the simplest.. I'm still waiting for an MMO where there are actual "famous" player-heroes and whatnot, and the plot has an actual ending/goal, though, like any real story/single player RPG..

for example, your sides have to "destroy the dark lords ring" (LOTR generic bullshit, admittedly but an easy example) while the enemy has to find whoever has it and protect it.. as soon as it's destroyed or kept by the evil forces for a certain amount of time, one side wins and the server restarts.. the people who have the best part in saving it/destroying it (ie spend the most time online leveling/completing quests) are honored in various ways and their deeds made known throughout the land
