View Full Version : Is Tony Romo the new pre-2011 Dirk Nowitzki?

Lets be honest, even alot of you Dirk homers (who now ridiculously rank him as the 2nd best PF of all-time :lol) gave up on the Mavs because it seemed like year after year Dirk and co. always found a way to fuck shit up. Now that the 5th best PF of all-time has that monkey off his back, has Antonio Ramiro Romo stepped into that vacated seat in Dallas?

Im a Cowboys fan, so I definitely dont want my nigga Romo to be the new pre-2011 Dirk...but with all the botched snaps and untimely interceptions its really starting to look like this nigga wont ever lead us to the promised land :depressed

Actually Tony Romo is like the current Lebron James.

Despite Jame's short comings, he still regarded as an elite player who is arguably the best player in the NBA. Romo on the other hand is not regarded as an "elite QB" and is not arguably the best QB in the NFL. How is Romo like Lebron? :wow

PS - I the biggest Cowboy fan you gonna find.

Poor comparison. Tony Romo is easily the most mentally weak QB to ever play the game. Super-talented, but terribly unclutch and just plain stupid. Dirk was never a retard, and he still had clutch moments amidst his team's failures. Romo is just a stat-whore, and has one playoff win on his resume despite playing on some crazy talented teams.

Amidst his team's failures? Nigga had his clutch moments but he also had his moments were him disappearing was the reason Dallas lost. I think Romo is more comparable to Dirk than LBJ, since LBJ didnt blatantly choke until this year imo.

Every bit of Tony's potential went down the drain the second he fumbled that FG against the Seahawks. He will never recover from that shit.

41, with half the goods. Dirk though, unlike Romo didn't chronically crap the bed.

At 15 down though Dirk saw the light.

And Dirk has never blatantly chocked in the playoffs either. There is no player in the NBA or NFL you can compare to Romo. His sorry ass is in a league of his own.

Dirk choked plenty of times prior to 2011 tbh, most notably in 06' and 07'. Romo is one sorry ass piece of shit though unfortunately.

T-Mac?

Nahh, Tmac wasnt really surrounded by the talent and payroll Romo was/is. And he wasnt really unclutch, his playoff numbers were solid the nigga just had no help. I stand by my opinion that pre-2011 Dirk is the most comparable to Romo.

Please do not compare Romo to Dirk. Romo has won 1 playoff game. Dirk has been to the WCF 3 times, and the Finals twice. And let's not forget that Dirk has a damn championship ring. The only ring Romo has is a wedding ring.

Exaggerate much? agree though Romo to Lebron or even dirk is a bad comparison. He has put up some good numbers but has not accomplished nearly as much as either player.

To me the Farve comparisons are the most accurate. Romo is poor man's Brett. You take away the one Super Bowl and obviously Farve was a MVP (Romo just a Pro bowler) and a much larger body of work and Farve's unclutch bonehead decision making is almost as legendary as Romo's ...but he won a title and that changes everything (perception-wise) for me, Farve is overrated. (Romo maybe too). To me winning just one like Farve, Young and Manning means you are great but give me Montana, Aikman and Brady. Winning multiple especially if you can lead a repeat means a lot more than a one and done titilst.

and yes I am a Cowboys fan have been since both the raiders and Rams left Los Angeles ...

Pre 2011 Dirk > Tony Romo. Before 2011, Dirk had played in the Finals, went to the WCF twice, and gotten out of the first round 6 times. Romo has only won 1 playoff game in his wonderful career. The comparison does not make sense.

The Dallas Mavericks had played in the Finals, went to the WCF twice, and gotten out of the first round 6 times. Im not comparing teams, Im comparing players.

While Dirk's overall numbers in the playoffs may had been solid (as are Romo's to a lesser extent), he either didnt step up or completely disappeared and let Terry take most of the shots in crucial moments. Nigga even went as far as calling Terry Dallas' closer at one point. Similarly Romo tends to fuck up in the most inopportune moments. Although to be fair Romo has stepped into that chair in D-town and not only replaced Dirk, but has proven to be an even bigger choker.
