Why does this school even have a football team? And why does their coach still have a job? They've been arguably the worst D1 program in the last 5 seasons and he's managed to get into a fight with some of his assistants yet he still continues to survive.

New Mexico has hired former ND coach and ESPN Analyst Bob Davie

Source: Bob Davie to coach Lobos

Former Notre Dame coach Bob Davie will be introduced Thursday as New Mexico's coach, a source said Wednesday.

Davie currently is a college football analyst for ESPN.

He replaces Mike Locksley, who was fired in late September after going 2-26 in two-plus seasons.

Davie was head coach at Notre Dame from 1997 to 2001 and defensive coordinator with the Fighting Irish from 1994 to 1996.

Davie also has been defensive coordinator at Texas A&M and Tulane.

Davie was 35-25 as head coach of the Irish.

:lol UNM Football. Definitely the worst program in the nation. We're terrible. Imagine how the one team we beat each year feels?

i went to taos once. the UT section in clothing stores was larger than the NM section. lol

Well, Taos is just for tourists tbh. Doesn't really surprise me. Albuquerque supports the Lobos really well in basketball which is the only major sport we're good at. (we kick ass at soccer too but yeah).

Texans go to Taos.

I only remember UNM's team being good once. We had season tickets. They went 10-1, only losing to BYU in their lone nationally televised game. They also didnt' get to go to a bowl because Air Force beat Notre Dame.
