Better question is: Was Kobe?

99-03 - Shaq or Duncan

04 - Garnett

05 - Duncan

06 - Wade

07 - Dirk in the reg, Duncan in the playoffs.

08 to 10 - Lebron

11 - Dirk

Dirk's got 2010-2011 but I wouldn't count out Kobe before that.

'05. Injured for 16 games and shot 43% from the field.

'06. You know as well I he wasn't as good as Wade that year.

'07. Dirk's MVP was no "Media gift." He led the league in PER along with leading his team to the best overall record.

'08. Trolling aside, I give this one to Kobe.

'09. Lebron lit up the playoffs. Too bad Mo Williams chose to miss every wide open shot against the Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals.

'10. Lebron wins another MVP. And despite the infamous game where Lebron quit, he played better against the Celtics than Kobe did. But I'll be objective here and say Kobe was the best player in the playoffs.

'11. Dirk. No question.

Not bad, except for 06-10. Lebron was far and away the best player in the league in '09. 35, 9, 7 in the playoffs on 51% shooting. No one was close that year. 06 and 07, Dirk had better regular season stats than Kobe, and in 06, Wade was fantastic in the playoffs while Kobe was choking 3 - 1 leads to the Suns. And in 10, Lebron was once again the best player. MVP, best regular season stats, and a strong playoffs, playing better against the Celtics than Kobe did.

It's easy to cherry pick a variety of quotes during a time when a player was hot and considered the best player in the league and edit it together.

Wade's '06 playoffs take a dump on anything Kobe did that year, including that irrelevant 81 point game against a shitty Raptors team. '07, Kobe didn't have the best stats in the league. Dirk did. Which, along with leading his team the best record in the league, is why he won the MVP. And in the playoffs, Duncan had better playoff stats.

Nothing proves he was the best player in the league in '06 and '07. '08, I'll give you. That's the year I personally felt Kobe finally lived up to his hype.

:lol

because of one series where he averaged 16 free throws a game that means hes better? :lol
Kobe was the 5th player ever to average 35+ppg and averaged 43 ppg in the month of January
in 2007, 10 50pt games and 4 straight 50pt games

Just a little love tap mid....

“I watch all the teams and what they did for LeBron, and [the Heat] still have to go through the Lakers with Kobe Bryant out there, who’s been my favorite player for a long time,’’ said Pacers president Larry Bird. “And I don’t think whatever they do in the East is really going to concern him that much.’’

“(Kobe) rates right there with Jordan.”
- Pat Riley

“Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation.” - Michael Jordan

“Everyone knows Kobe is the best in the game.”
- Mike D’Antoni

“We’re witnessing greatness right now. We need to understand that."
- Tyson Chandler :lol

Shane Battier:

“I saw how good Kobe was in my rookie year when I was in Memphis, Battier said. “Everyone makes a big deal out of his 81-point game against the Raptors. But he gave me personally about 63 in my rookie year — in three quarters. And no one really talks about it. He’s unbelievable. Unbelievable. All the praise that he receives, he earns.

We don't even had to go the '06 Finals to see how great Wade was. He blasted Detroit, you know, the team Kobe shot 38% and went 3-23 from 3 against.

Yep. Dirk was better during the regular season. Led the league in PER, which you know, considers ALL the stats and not just your beloved PPG.

As for Duncan, it's hard to compare a full playoff run that resulted in a championship against someone who didn't get out of the first round. So let's see how both players did against the no-defense playing Suns.

Duncan: 26.8PPG, 13.6RPG, 1.1APG, 4.1BPG on 57% shooting.

Bryant: 32.8PPG, 5.2RPG, 4.4APG, 1.0SPG on 46% shooting.

Give me Duncan's line any day of the fuckin' week.

Very very simple answer:

Without Tim Duncan, no one give a rats ass about the Spurs and all the Laker trash would never come here to piss and moan about him, and compare him to their guy.

Without Kobe, the Lakers are still one of the greatest teams of all time.

Lebron played better than Kobe against common opponents in 2008, 2009 and 2010, but I give Kobe the edge in 2008, his run to the Finals was very impressive..2010 could go either way, with Lebron choking against Boston, and Kobe having a mediocre series(but gets credit for winning the title, obviously)..

2006 could go either way, as well, Kobe was unquestionably the best regular season player that year, but Wade's top 5 Finals performance of all-time gives him the edge IMO..

Duncan has been better than Shaq. Shaq's pinnacle was so narrow that it doesn't really compare to Duncan. Shaq was fucking dominant in the threepeat years. He did ok with Miami in 2006. Didn't do shit after that.

As much oral stimulation as you dick warts give Kobe, how can you even say Shaq was a factor in a single win?

So 3 rings is better than 4 rings with two completely different teams?

Add to it that Shaq had what Laker fan here has constantly stated as the GOAT Kobe Bryant as his side kick, and you want to say that Robinson = Kobe or the Robinson = Shaq?

I will give Shaq the most dominant big in the last 30 years, no problem. Better overall career than Duncan? No. Peat or no peat, rings are what they are. Just ask Culbert.

Tim has been a factor in the game since he started. Shaq has been semi-retired for 4 years.

Shaq has a greater legacy than Jim. A back to back. A three peat. Six finals trips. Head to,head he owns Jim.

Nope. 15-15 in the playoffs vs. each other, each tied at 3 in series wins.

Stats:

Duncan: 25.6, 13.0, 3.8, 2.4, 48%

Shaq: 22.4, 12.8, 2.2, 2.8, 52%

But without Pau or Shaq, Kobe never won a playoff series and even missed the playoffs one year. That's a two way relationship. Sometimes Kobe is the woman, sometimes it's Pau. This year, they both chose to be women. Pau with his emotional problems and Kobe with his stellar 22, 3, 3.

Old and not funny.

Get a gun from the armory wherever your grunt ass is stationed, fly to Deuce's house, hand him the gun, instruct him to point it at you and pull the trigger.

Deuce, as Lkrfan lays there a twitching, bloody mess, put the gun in your mouth and...

Kill your fuckin self.

Once you get more familiar with this forum and my posting style, you'll realize I'm not mad.

Although I prefer you not to get more familiar with this forum because that would mean you didn't...

Alright, dudes. Gotta do.

Deuce, make sure to kill your fuckin' self. That's your homework assignment for tonight. You'll be graded on how much blood and brain matter you splatter on the walls. The more visceral way your meaningless life comes to an end, the higher the grade.

lol at all these faggots attempting to live vicariously through Kobe Bryant.

That being said Duncan was easily the best player in the NBA in 2002 and 2003. 2004 was Garnett, 2005 was probably Timmy again but this one's debatable, 2006 I take Kobe, 2007 Dirk, 2008 CP3/Kobe, 2009-2010 is Bron and last season was Dirk by a mile.

Better question is: Was Kobe?

99-03 - Shaq or Duncan

04 - Garnett

05 - Duncan

06 - Wade

07 - Dirk in the reg, Duncan in the playoffs.

08 to 10 - Lebron

11 - Dirk

2006-2008, its not even a question that Kobe was the best player in the league those 3 years
2009-2010, is close, but give me the back to back Finals MVP Champion

I'll just have to assume you're a troll because of your username, but LeBron shits all over Kobe. Give me any statistic that Kobe is better in. Maybe like... what... free throw percentage? LOL

Td was da best playa that season 05 cos the potential candidates were all suckin bad imho, plus the spurs had the best W/L record in the regular season. the spurs were doing great that season as always while other teams in general were dormant, that was a true achievement but not a hard-earned one imho just like dream's two rings 94' and 95'

Duncan in 03 was so far and away the best player in the NBA..

This. He was ridiculous, and there wasn't even anyone in his rear-view mirror.

I'd wager to say 2004 is debatable between Timmy and KG because Tim anchored the best defensive team in league history as far as OPPG goes iirc
