Once hormonal changes take place, he could very well accept being a man. On the flip side however, if a sex change is to be performed, it is better to do it before any male hormonal effects take place... that is before puberty.

don't remember which show, something like 20/20 or Dateline, but there was an episode a few months back about people regreting their sex change they had when they were young later on in life. And this boy wasn't even part of the episode

He is not having surgery. He is blocking male puberty hormones.
