Don't worry I got you covered my brothers...:lol
Since it only happens to the best...though their paths are paved slightly different the result is pretty much the same:
Both got swept twice...MJ by Boston in 86 and 87 and Kobe by the * asterisk Spurs in 99 and again this past season after coming off 3 straight trips to the finals AND an Olympic GOLD ( not bronze) but GOLD medal...
Both shot poorly in an NBA Finals and still won the title and MVP award. :lol
Let's look at this together please:
MJ's stats ( per game) from the 96 finals
27 ppg
51-123, 41% fg
5.3 rb
4.2 assts
Final Game: 5-19. 26% fg, 9 rb - Finals MVP :lol
In the last game of the series, MJ shot 26%, played good defense and got 9 boards. No one complained all his good. :lol
Now Kobe's ( per game) stats from 2010 Finals:
29 ppg
41% fg, 32% 3pt fg
8 rbs
4 assts
2.1 stls
88% ft
Final Game: 6-24, 25% fg, 15 rbs - Finals MVP
These stat lines are almost identical. MJ in 96 when his team was far better than the opposing team. The 2010 Celtics would have swept the floor with the 96 Sonics, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
The gist of my message let's praise these to GREAT players and recognize that they are on a collision course...Kobe wins 2 more and it's over...good thing is he has a legit opportunity to pull it off...:lol
