A little different here since TCU was not officially a big east school yet. ATM just signed a multi year deal commiting to the conference..

Texas and then Tech. It was an honest question actually. Both Tech and Baylor need to replace the A&M rivalry since it was huge for both schools.

Sorry to nitpick, but the "It's official" part seems a bit premature. Not saying it's not going to happen, but the media's track record on breaking conference realignment news has been less than stellar.

Then the question should have been "is Tech or Baylor going to want TCU as it's main rival?"

You can't just force a rivalry to happen. I don't think any school will replace the feeling when A&M came to Lubbock.

side note, it'll be really weird to see A&M possibly play a bowl game some day against UT or Tech.

The way this whole drama has played out, all it takes is one of the big east leftovers to threaten a lawsuit and what's supposed to be a done deal gets held up for weeks.

That being said, with the big east imploding and the big 12 having their issues, TCU to the big 12 makes too much sense for it not to happen eventually.

Now that Nebraska has had it's AAU membership revoked, I wonder if the Big 10 will kick them out.

Are they better athletically across the board? No

Anyone who thinks that's an upgrade is either trolling or an idiot. Patterson leaves and that program is back to nothing. Amazing what a good coaching hire can do for a program tbh but even he can't turn it into a powerhouse program. Not enough resources for them to do it. They simply aren't capable.

Below is the average announced home attendance for each Power 5 conference school compared to last year at this time.

Ohio State 106,761 +2%
Texas A&M 104,298 +20%
Michigan 104,113 -7%
LSU 101,460 +12%
Alabama 101,316 Decrease of less than 1%
Tennessee 100,997 +12%
Penn State 99,806 +8%
Texas 93,332 -6%
Georgia 92,746 Increase of less than 1%
Nebraska 91,341 Increase of less than 1%

TCU 42,026 -3%

all these types of variables go into making a program what it is. Why is Texas such a great program? Because they win? Obviously not considering they haven't won in awhile but they are still a top program in the country. Because of ratings, exposure, attendance, recruiting, academics, etc. is the point.

Anyone who thinks TCU is an upgrade as a member doesn't know what they are talking about. Yes, they are a better football team at the moment. That doesn't define a program and nobody with a brain would choose TCU to be a member over A&M.

ChumpDumper

Oh, you were talking about comparing it to A&M.

Well, doesn't really matter at this point.

It's not like the Big XII was losing many Texas TVs.

I'm not sure the Big XII TV deal would have been any better with A&M tbh. It's amazing to me how much they got. And they're the only P5 that can easily expand into new markets. Nice job.

What exactly has Tech lost because of the tcu addition/aggy subtraction?

Aside from a great rival, nothing as far as I can tell.

Tcu may not be an upgrade, but no evidence of a downgrade either.
