Son you should have just made an Official Costa Rica thread or some shit. :lol

Other Sports is basically the General soccer forum.

It would have been me talking to myself, which isn't that different from this thread plus saying "lol Costa Rica" over and over in my thread would suck :lol.

But sometimes I feel like mentioning something that doesn't belong to a particular thread. I'm just going to bump this thread to hell.

Like this for example, good to see Park Chu Young (Arsenal) score two goals for his South Korean team. :toast I mean, I could say that in the EPL thread but eh...

Balotelli escapes bathroom fire
October 22, 2011

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has escaped unhurt after a firework went off in his bathroom.

Two fire engines were sent to the home of the Italy international in Mottram St Andrew, Macclesfield, in the early hours of Saturday morning after the alarm was raised.

They found a fire in the bathroom on the first floor of the detached property.

Four firefighters arrived wearing breathing apparatus and used two hose reel water jets to douse the flames, and a large fan was deployed to clear smoke.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews managed to put the fire out within half an hour of arriving but remained at the scene until 2.45am to prevent any possible flare-ups.

"Smoke alarms were fitted at the property and the occupiers were able to get out unharmed. The fire was caused by a firework.''

The cause of the blaze is being examined by fire investigators and police but is not being treated as suspicious.

http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2011/1020/trashyourtevezshirt_275x155.jpg

Carlos Tevez, the troublesome fellow that once divided Manchester, is now bringing City and United fans together as they have been invited to "trash" their Tevez shirts in a skip ahead of the derby this weekend.

Want-away Tevez, who quit United for rivals City in 2009, will miss Sunday's top-of-the-table clash following his alleged refusal to come off the bench against Bayern Munich and is public enemy No.1 with both sets of supporters.

The unhappy fans, of which over 75,000 are expected to descend on Old Trafford for the derby, will be encouraged to ditch their unwanted Tevez jerseys which will then be sent to charities in his native Argentina, where he is not yet a figure of hate, by bookmakers Betfair.

"Time and time again Tevez has let the fans down," said Betfair spokesman Alex Bake. "What better way for fed up supporters to show they want rid of him for good than by dumping their shirts. These two sets of supporters don't often see eye to eye, but I'm sure they'll all be pleased if he leaves Manchester in the January transfer window."

Of course Maradona is a jackass in many personal ways, but when speaking about the sport he doesn't say outrageous shit like Pele does.

I think of Maradona and Pele as those characteres that exist in some movies when you have a guy that at first seems like the obvious bad guy (Maradona) and another that acts all perfect and shit, follows the rules, etc. (Pele) but at the end you realize that the bad guy wasn't that bad and the good one was a jackass.

I don't think anyone has accused Maradona of being a bad person. He's just really, really, really fucking ignorant about most things that matter and he thinks his football career qualifies him to open his mouth about most everything else.

Maradona isn't bad, he's just a douche. Pele is in that same boat IMHO.

Man claims church ruined his chances of playing for Manchester United
• Former semi-professional sues Baptist church for £10m
• Believes years spent as 'fervent evangelist' ruined career

A retired semi-professional footballer is suing the Baptist church for £10m, claiming the 19 years he spent as a "fervent evangelist" ruined his chances of playing for Manchester United.

According to the London Evening Standard, 46-year-old Arquimedes Nganga, who currently lives in Forest Hill, London, but used to play for a third division side in his native Portugal, quit the sport at the age of 25, two years after he converted to the Baptist faith. He believes he could have earned £20,000 a week, despite never making more than £200 a month playing semi-professionally.

"I could definitely have had a long career in the Premiership," Nganga said. "I see many players playing today who I am not inferior to – and perhaps even better than. Most midfielders are either defensive or attacking but I was both. I had something new."

Nganga has filed papers at the high court, accusing the leaders of the Baptist Union of Great Britain of destroying his social life, causing him "psychological harm" and defrauding him of money through compulsory donations.

The church said it will vigorously contest the claim.

Not always true

I never said it's always true, but one would expect any of the top 5 clubs in the world to beat just about all national teams that haven't been in practice together while the the very strong club team has just had a whole season together.
