Pretty embarrassing; it's less than he averages in the NBA. What happened to this guy?

Didn't see the game but if you are expecting him to average what he did in the NBA, it will look off. No one really has NBA equivalent averages overseas. The games are different and stats are different.

They don't run sissy cuck PG oriented offenses in Europe, they actually play team basketball, so naturally he won't put up his NBA type numbers.

Sure, but I've been reading a lot lately on how he's getting out of shape and shit. Euro competition is definitely a tier below the NBA, so I figure he ought to be at least pulling what he normally does.

Also this team brought him in specifically to be their star, so I guess I thought he'd most likely be the one scoring 27 points and not somebody else on the team.

Without superstar calls this is what a lot of guys are reduced to. Not only do they get extra trips to the line, but the defender has to play scared and walk on egg shells so as not to "foul" the guy and it makes offense a whole lot easier. Just look at what happened to Duncan in FIBA.

He got called for ticky-tack crap and spent lots of time on the bench in foul trouble?

He's out there collecting a paycheck. Do you think he really gives a fuck about playing well over there?

Don't be surprised.

The spacing overseas sucks for premiere PnR point guards like Deron Williams because of the close 3 point line. They simply don't have the space to produce like they can in the NBA because of how congested the middle is (due to the short three-point line). Because of this, defenses don't have to work as hard and pretty much pack the lane because there's less ground to cover when rotating, recovering, and running out.

Same thing goes for FIBA, Olympics and College Basketball.

It's a main reason why Iverson and Marbury were atrocious in the 04' Olympics (their ability to penetrate in ISO and PnR opportunities disappeared).

On the other hand,

Tony Parker, who made his debut with ASVEL in French league was already decisive with 21 points, 6 assists helping his team win.

Deron is a scrub.

While that overrated punk does what he can realistically do in some pitiful Turkish league and 3rd tier European competition...the true Jazz mormons, honest, underrated by nigglets players like Kirilenko have stats like this in the strongest European competition Euroleague http://www.euroleague.net/main/results/showgame?gamecode=5
btw LOL another overrated negro Ty Lawson

Why do people keep thinking that Paul's 07-08 season was his best when his 08-09 season was clearly better?

Never specified if I meant the beginning of 2008 or the end.

If you recall the last FIBA World Championship, few on the team had good shooting averages other than Durant.

It's almost a different game. He's playing with different players, he's pretty much got a different role. It's not about being out of shape.
