Rangers in 5

The only thing that makes me nervous about this series is that the Rangers seem to be running into that same kinda "storybook ending" team in the WS as they did LAST year w/ SF.

Just once, I'd like for them to play a team that was "supposed to be there", w/o some kinda bullshit "magical run" to get them there.

St. Louis winning a title recently probably helps Texas in a small way. Not saying the Cards won't be motivated to win it all, but Texas has gotta be the hungrier team, right?

cards should pitch to cruz like rays did
however if they pitch to him like tigers watch out
10.5 games out cards were aug 25
they are HOT
I like the nl better then the al but I can not believe texas has never won a title
so I would be happy with texas winning

As hot as the Cardinals have been, I just have a hard time believing they can pull the San Francisco magic that happened last year, especially with their lack of pitching.

Detroit is as good or a better hitting squad than St. Louis, and is a considerably better pitching squad, and Texas was able to handle them. IMO Texas has to have another complete hitting implosion like they did in the last world series for them to lose this. If their bats continue to show up, their pitching will be good enough to win the series.

Good point. Unfortunately, my baseball trivia doesn't go back much further than last season's playoff run.

time to give thought to lineup and rotation

Obviously simply move Young to 1b when playing at St. Louis. Beats the hell out of Vladdy playing OF last year, ROFL.

Pitching rotation, I say CJ, Harrison, Colby, Holland. I don't want to see Holland out there more than once in the series, and if it went to a game 7, I would feel pretty good running Colby out there.

Not necessarily, tbh. The Cards were 10.5 games out in late August. Since then they've been running on pure adrenaline and motivation. In the NLCS it seemed they ran out of gas because none of their pitchers could make it to the 6th inning.

Their bullpen beasted against a dangerous Brew-Crew lineup. Texas has better bats for sure, but I also wouldn't count on St. Louis' starting pitching to suck that bad for two straight series. If anything, they are well-rested. Also, winning last night ensured that Carp would be on the mound for Game 1.

Texas will be plenty motivated, but the Cards are on a historic run and so will they.

tbh you could say the same about rangers starting pitching, they're due to turn in a solid performance as well

Not to mention TEX got there last year, and fell short. I'd be surprised if they weren't frothing at the fucking mouth (with apologies to Wash, who can't help it) for the opportunity to actually finish this thing off the RIGHT way this time 'round.

It's like Dirk walking off the floor of the WCF last year. They're not done.

This series pisses me off because 2 bullshit teams are playing in the world series. Last year the SF Giants were actually legit because they had great all around pitching. This year you have 2 teams with SHITTY starting pitching and good bullpens. I am siding with the Cards though. I can live with them winning it all. I can't live with Texas though. Cards will win this series in 6. They have the better bullpen and even the better starting pitcher in Carp. Cards bats are just as good as the Rangers.

The Cardinals are the NL's version of the Yankees in my opinion. The Rangers will have a chance if the starting pitching is at least average and if Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre start hitting some home runs. You would think that Josh is bound to break out of the home run slump. And if Cruz keeps on doing what he does, the Rangers definitely have a chance.

tbh if Beltre can continue to produce for the next few years, the failure to sign Lee won't hurt as much. of course, I was one of many that DID want to sign him so I'm not gonna say i was right or anything but it looks like he might have just been a flash in the pan as far as the postseason goes.

Here are two pitching resumes from this 2011 postseason. One of them is Matt Harrison and one is Cliff Lee

Amarelooms is like a spoiled little kid, probably an only child too. It's funny how he always expects his teams to thoroughly dominate whilst the other team to completely and utterly fail. Sports is a team game bitch, and games are rarely won this early. Sometimes it takes the whole fucking game. But it's cool we know you didn't get the memo. You probably quit in Madden if the other guy scores a TD on his first drive huh.

+1

We're getting robbed in this game. That ball was clearly in fair territory but still robbed. Why didn't Wash throw the challenge flag on that one.

And I'd like to see a replay on that Cruz play because it looked like he caught it. The ball hit the ground first, then went up into his glove. That's a catch right?

Agreed. They hung in against STL's ace, while putting up CJ, arguably their worst starter (though, you could never convince HIM of that), in the first game of the world series.

Need more production from the 1-4 bats (and hoping Josh finds SOME way to overcome that groin injury), but I think they still have a good shot.

And, yes. Dirk throwing out the first pitch again=win, regardless. Makes more sense for him to throw it out at home anyways.

I'm still saying we take this series in 6...ask me again tonight and I'll tell you if my mind is changed. I wasn't expecting to win Game 1..at all. I'm not expecting to win Game 5 (assuming that's the other game Carpenter starts) either. I'm thinking we'll win the rest. I believe our hitters are much stronger than theirs, and with either better or equal pitching on both sides, we will win.

tbh I wouldn't mind sitting him for the rest of this one. Move the lineup around a bit. I mean, in a game like this, where every baserunner is crucial, we need someone who can run when they get on base...he can't even do that, though, right now.
