Freaking poll is broken (WTH Kori?), so just reply with what most closely resembles your situation, tbh...

Are You Prepared For the Zombie Apocalypse?

A) I have a partially written document (somewhere)

B) Hard copies of my zombie attack plan are in the fire safe

C) I already live in a fortified bunker with food and weapons

D) I am completely unprepared for this fictional event

E) I am a zombie, you insensitive clod!

F) I want to eat Creepn

G) I don't believe in zombies

I'm military, so I think I'm rather prepared. We will have the guns, MREs, etc etc.

I'll go to my parents. My dad has been waiting for the revolution for years...tons of dry and canned goods and tons of weapons. All that's missing is a Saiga shotgun and a few 20 round drums.

Don't forget armored personnel carriers, tanks, napalm, and nukes.

I have yet to see a zombie movie yet adequately show what happens to any group of zombies when faced with an M1A1 MBT.

Smart+fast, slow and shuflling, whatever, they would still be a squishy goo under the treads. As long as that squishy goo wasn't also contagious...

That would be my pick.

Although, I do have a sketch plan drawn up that says "go for the nearest zone of low population density land, and stick that way until you get to Wyoming/Montana/Canada"

If civilization really collapses, one has to realize that nature will only support a certain number of humans per square mile as hunters/gatherers/muscle farming. The faster you get to an area with a population density close to that rather low density number, the less likely you are to starve to death, in addition to a much lower density of zombie hordes.

Where's the option for "halfway prepared"? We have the weapons but not the food and only one of the kids knows how to shoot :lol

Can you buy MREs online and how long is the shelf life?

Can you buy MREs online and how long is the shelf life?

http://www.mredepot.com/servlet/the-270/MRE-Military-USGI-Meal/Detail

These look like the exact ones I've used in the military. But usually, it's tough to buy the military MRE's unless you know someone who lives on-base and can get them for you. That said, there's a lot of different civilian MREs on the market. Haven't tried those.

Or you could just try ebay...

Per the first link on shelf life:

With a minimum shelf life of 3 years, and up to 130 months (10 + years, according to the manufactures specifications) if stored at 60 degrees F or lower, these meals are ideal for camping, disaster preparedness or as a safety/survival measure for the entire family!!

Stored in an underground bunker/room of some sort would do it. No need for direct refridgeration.

Ground temperatures stabilize at about 60 degrees Fahrenheit just about 12 feet down, in most places.

Have you watched Swamp People on History channel?
They use a single shot of .22lrs to kill leather armored gators.

Per the first link on shelf life:

I actually ponied up about $40 once to try a bunch of them, to see what to get/buy for use in camping with the boys when they get old enough.

My memories of MREs are from the late eighties, early nineties. They were... edible.

These were good quality, and a bit tasty. The dehydrated ones used for backpacking were interesting. I think the little ones would get a kick out of the process of adding water to the food.

If there were a button I could push to initiate the zombie apocalypse, it would be the easiest decision of my existence.

Anyone see the The Mist? Not a zombie apocalypse but something to think about when allocating a limited supply of bullets.

My plan has always been to try to live a normal life by acting zombie whenever I went outside. Shuffle and groan my way to wherever I needed to go. Raid the nearest brick & mortar option for all the games and movies I'd need for a lifetime of entertainment and try to inconspicuously ride it out.

I've always been driven by quality of life rather than length of life, though, so if it looked like the only existence I could have would be one of hiding and running I'd have no qualms about going for the easy out.

Hiding and running? You're no fun at all.
