Hamas sells itself to its Palestinian and foreign backers as an independent political organization at war with Israel and the jewish people. In the Hamas charter it says they are for the elimination of the Israeli state and for the elimination of the jewish people from the continent.

Since the capture of the Israeli soldier in 2006 they have quarantined and blockaded Gaza. Over the last 5 years the situation there economically has deteriorated to put it mildly and in contrast the opposition of Hamas, Fatah, has overseen some modest growth and development in the West. With Fatah going to the UN, the power was shifting in a huge way.

So what does Israel do?

1 soldier for 1027 Hamas prisoner of which a dozen or so were convicted of recruiting and deploying suicide bombers, rocket attacks etc. Apparently they are talking about lifting the blockade.

Some of the quotes that i was reading was the mother of one of the released Hamas prisoners saying "I call on every Palestinian to kidnap an Israeli soldier." Its akin to the players taking Stern's first offer. Now Hamas is fully back in play. Israel handed them a tremendous victory on a silver platter.

This tells me that the Netanyahu Regime finds Fatah more of a threat than Hamas.

I recommend we start sending proposals through to cut military aid to Israel contingent on their policy. We do have a horse in the this race as every Hamas-Israel tit for tat reprisal means more anti-Western sentiment. We know now that the Atlantic does not insulate us enough.

If they want to play their game over there then they should be seen as doing it without our support. The Palestinian people are not going to be subject to any israeli regime. Quite frankly, I believe that the Israelis have to shit or get off the pot.

If they want to play the game of settling the occupied territory under the table while stalling any sort of resolution to this war then i fell they should do so without our support. Enough is enough.
