TSA Doing Random Truck Searches On Tennessee Highway

"TSA is expanding its presence to the American road system. As part of its Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) program, TSA agents are now working at 5 weigh stations and two bus stations in Tennessee (http://www.newschannel5.com/story/15725035/officials-claim-tennessee-becomes-first-state-to-deploy-vipr-statewide). They are randomly checking trucks with 'drug and bomb sniffing dogs', and encouraging truck drivers to join their First Observer Highway Security Program an report anything suspicious that they see to authorities. VIPR is allegedly not a response to any particular threat."

How very gestapo like....the growing similarities between pre-ww1 and ww2 Germany and the United States today are truly scary...you would think someone would stand up and say 'hey guys, we've been through all this shit before, and let me tell ya, it doesn't end pretty"..... But they don't....truly remarkable....

It's sad how this was the completely obvious next step, and how nefarious it remains.

It's bullshit having these constant checkpoints where one has to prove his innocence. First it was the sobriety checkpoints, then the INS checkpoints, and now truck drivers get to all prove they're not terrorists. Regular drivers won't be far behind.

There is actually some sense behind this. This started with the Oak Ridge Lab working on radiation scanners that you could put at weigh stations that could check trucks for radioactive material, like dirty bombs. Since then, Tennessee has kind of become the nation's testing grounds for highway related homeland security type stuff.

You'd better hope none of your stuff was made in Japan recently. You might be in for a nasty surprise.

But... But... But...

If Obama doesn't find continuing work for the TSA agents, he may not be able to keep them employes, and will have a harder time growing government.
