Was buying blank CDs on my way home and a Case-mate Barely There (http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Cases-International/Case-Mate-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Barely-There-Cases.asp) caught my eye for my S2. I opened it and tried it on and said what the hell, it's 16 bucks.

Excellent thin case, the only one I see myself having for an extended period of time.

OK. So, this morning I get this text
" AT&T Free Msg: Your data usage is among the top 5% of users. Data speeds for the rest of your current bill cycle may be reduced. Visit www.att.com/dataplans."
From att, of course and immediately I'm annoyed. I'm grandfathered into the unlimited data plan but did me going to LTE affect it? I wish that dumb sonofabitch of a "salesman" would've told me that. LTE is new for them. You'd think they'd make it pretty damn known that my data would be affected.......

I don't know because it says I just switched my data plan and I can't look it up. That leads me to believe that this LTE either knocked out my grandfathered unlimited data plan somehow, someway.

I really have no problem with them doing that because if that's what they think is good for their business then fine. I have a problem with them not bringing it to my attention and having the option to accept it or decline. I wouldn't have upgraded if I'd known this beforehand.

Well I did a little research on the Google. Apparently, its not an LTE stipulation but an overall cap specifically designed for the people still with unlimited data plans or should I say "unlimited" data plans. Even so, what they spelled out about this 5% BS isn't being followed out to the letter. "Before you are affected, we will provide multiple notices, including a grace period." Horse puckey!!!! I got that text this morning, I'd done a speedtest before, used to get 15.5Mbps on the DL and now I get .2!!! .2. Nah. There's no cooling off period because I have my same contracted unlimited data plan I've always had. It's a combination of TouchWiz and unoptimized Samsung programs they instal on Android. Currently I'm using a ROM with a custom touchwiz and an optimized kernel, and I still have 50% battery life right now (charged last 13 hours ago).

Of course, their goal is to be on as most devices as possible. I like that they don't have an iron grip on the sotware, but they need to strike a balance. Unfortunately no mobile OS at the moment has found that perfect balance. Luckily if you're someone who likes to customize your phone, you can strike that balance yourself with Android.

I have been running Warm 2.3 Rls1 on my evo 3d for about a week now and I am at 40% with and took it off of the charger about 11 and a half hours ago. There is a kernel (anthrax) that everyone on the e3d forums is talking about and extended battery life is one of its benefits, but I can't seem to make myself do it. On my TP however, I would really appreciate it so that I can take advantage of "honeycomb" apps (tablet specific). It really sucks for android that google isn't advertising these features. It has been out forever and just today at work a girl saw a SIRI commercial, said "I can't wait to get that phone so I can do that", I said "yeah, its been on my Android phone for a year and a half, it's great!". She said "not on my evo". So I asked for her phone, asked her what the name of one of her friends was then held down the search button and as soon as it popped up said "send text to wayne when are we getting together" sure enough the window popped up exactly like I said it and asked "send"? She says "I have owned this phone since it first came out and had no clue."

This isn't a perfect solution but you can say "Play I am I" (this is a Queensryche song) and it will first ask you to select which app to use (I checked default and selected google music) then it will bring up the google music app and go to I am I, but then you have to press it for it to play

I have an iPad2 and my wife has a 4s. For my phone, I have an SGII Skyrocket.

I don't really consider the Apple app store to be much better than Android's, especially for the phone. Everything that I need for my phone, I can get on Android's market, and 90% of them are free, while probably 70-80% of the Apple apps will cost you at least a buck. It's pretty stupid that I had to pay $5 just to get an app on my iPad that can access my computer's media servers, while my Android already came with such an app, and there are several free ones.

After having had quite a while to use all these devices, I personally recommend Android, definitely. The big screen and ability to greatly customize your phone, makes it capable of doing more useful things IMO.

The consensus guess for the next one is Key Lime Pie (they are alphabetical). ... cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, ice cream sandwhich...

The android one.

Oh, sorry, I can't help you there. I haven't used the stock android keyboard in probably 3 years.

Which one do you use?

I type in this space to post here and there's times where what I'm typing doesn't stay on e screen. And I type in landscape mode, so I don't know if that's why it happens or not.

I'm totally not digging the new browser.

I use swype. It is freakin excellent.

As far as the browser, I really liked the stock ICS browser... until chrome came out.

Well I have swype so I'll check that out

I liked the old browser but this one is a little clunky. I didn't know there was a chrome app. I asked that question here a while back why the Google store didn't have a Google browser. I guess they read my post. I'll have to check it out.

I have mentioned it a few times in this forum, you may have glossed it over because it is only for ICS and it just came out about 3 months ago.

Tried the Chrome beta myself and wasn't too enamored with it.

You can download ICS Browser+ from the Play Store and give it a try. It's kind of an improved version of the stock ICS browser.
