Yeah but it had a few moments. It just didn't have the same vibe as it used to. I think Mike Judge has lost a step. Remember it was like 15 years since he wrote the last Beavis and Butt-head. Maybe he is running out of storylines as well. Thus why he quit Beavis and Butt-Head the first time.

Dave Brockie aka Oderus from GWAR reviews Beavis and Butthead:

http://www.metalinsider.net/guest-blog/gwars-oderus-urungus-reviews-beavis-and-butt-head

FUCK! I broke like ten lap-tops trying to watch this thing online…and STILL had to suffer through the commercials, which at times would maddeningly replay themselves over and over. THAT is usually when I would break the laptops. But I am pleased to report that despite the continuing deficiencies of web TV the new “Beavis and Butt-head” was every bit worth the effort it took to throw ten lap tops against a wall until I finally got through the first episode.

But to say it is “new” is not quite right- it’s like it never stopped happening. The show is presented in exactly the same manner as it always was, and Stewart still wears a Winger T-shirt. The only thing different is the new generation of pop-culture targets that creator Mike Judge goes after, and as usual they are spot-on. The first episode has two separate 15-minute segments, inter-cut with the usual purple couch commentary that looks every bit as crude as the old stuff. The real treat is the new actual stories, the first involving our heroes trying to become undead to “score” and the second involving Butt-head allegedly catching Beavis crying (he was not). Both made me at times laugh out loud and the second one had an amazing ending…the animation in these segments was WAY more sophisticated than the old stuff was, and in this I guess there was the only substantive change from the old show, and certainly one for the better.

Mike Judge has never disappointed me and this won’t disappoint you. It’s like an old buddy showed up or something. Beavis and Butt-head are back – FUCK YEAH! Hopefully Mike won’t wait too long to have their favorite band on!

Yeah, I really liked how it hearkened back to early 90's animation/quality. It added to the nostalgia quite a bit for me.

Overall, I thought it was well done. Unlike most shit that goes on a decade and a half hiatus, it's pretty much the same people (person) doing everything once again, at least front and center. I'll be catching more episodes for sure

Hand was good, again the second episode kinda lacked

They coulda done so much more with the two murderers from the movie and the whole looting scene

Still waiting for them to hit a grand slam, but so far it's been solid. It's hard not to watch this show and keep myself from expecting MORE, it's just been so damn long without any new episodes.

Actually, Mike Judge said that. He said the same simple animation would return just like it was before...and it is the same. It has some tweaks, but the same basic animation from the end of the last season is the same, per Judge himself. Basically the same animation type..but done digitally.

Cant_Be_Faded
11-04-2011, 07:28 PM
I meant different as in the literal definition of the word different. From the preview released months ago I was saying how it was different seeing the animation done on computer, how clean the backgrounds and characters were. And I'm guessing it was you, you were adamant about how the animation was the same. Which it isn't.

Dex
11-04-2011, 07:39 PM
The style of the animation is the same. If they drew everything looking different, it wouldn't be Beavis and Butthead anymore.

But the processes they used to animate and the quality of the animation is obviously improved. That's easily discernible when you see the old clips in the couch scenes and how grainy and crappy they look on a big flatscreen (though it does lend itself to a sense of nostalgia).

oh....my....fucking....GOD

Holy fucking crap!!!!!

They showed 4 15min episodes tonight, and each one was solid grade A pure non pyrite fucking GOLD

"The Rat" was a blatant ripoff of "The Fly" episode (one of my alltime faves) but it was still funny....I was like ehhhhhh I hope they can do better than this

Then they reel off 3 amazingly hilarious episodes, IMO the 3 funniest of the season

A few observations

1) This season is so much more overtly political than BnB has ever been. Starting off around Mr. Van Dreesen's harangue in front of the military base about the military industrial complex, there's political satire in pretty much every episode now.

2) The length of the couch clips has decreased dramatically. More story, which can be good or bad. I like it. They get in their jokes, we see cool shit, and then we're back to the story, it's like modern day 30 Rock or Workaholics paced humor. Theres no boring lull in the TV watching, it's constant BnB gold. Barack Obama's predecessor on Allstate commercials, crofl.

3) There are more videos compared to MTV crap. And the MTV crap is funny anyways, because they are ripping their network apart not unlike South Park does to Comedy Central.

4) Mike Judge and the other writers are really really starting to hit their stride. The dialogue is the funniest it's been all season, I was laughing so hard during all 4 episodes I had to keep rewinding to hear what I was missing over my laughing.

Don't abandon this show yet, it's just now starting to fucking rule again.

also....

CROFLRCROFLROFLFL at the re-appearance of the Positive Acting Team and Butthead constantly referencing his original classic line about that kid's dad from the original P.A.T episode.

Not as good as it once was, but it's still better than what's out there. Mike Judge is by far the GOAT of adult animation.

He understands and gets our society just as much as the South Park guys, but he can keep the level of humor subtle, yet accurate and still be more impactful than the Parker and Stone.

The way Ferrell is the comedic performer of the times, Mike Judge is the animation equivalent. Timeless, unforgettable, quotable, loveable and impactful characters... when people talk about the alltime under rated comedic geniuses of the time, Judge is criminally under rated like a Peter Sellers.
