From the Louisville Rivals site:

So what happened between Thursday's good-feeling vibes that the Big 12 was going to take both teams and move to 11 and Friday's likely addition of just one team?

While no one outside those board rooms and athletic director's offices knows exactly what happened, two Big 12 sources Friday morning told CardinalSports.com it came down to money and Texas.

One Big 12 source said both Kansas schools were on board with 12 members, Texas Tech prefers 12 members, Iowa State is in favor of Louisville, Baylor likes Louisville and both Oklahoma schools prefer the conference moving back to 12 members. So why stop at 10?

Texas would appear to be the lynchpin that holds the TV grant of rights deal together. The rest of the Big 12 want Texas to agree to the TV rights deal and may have caved to the request to stay at 10 teams.

:lolTexas is a cancer that needs to be removed immediately.

The other teams don't get any money if UT isn't in the conference. That conference still exists at the pleasure of UT.

Really?
So if the Big 12 rids itself of Texas and then add say Louisville, Cincy, and West Virginia. The Big 12 couldn't survive?

I keep forgetting that Texas' vote overrules any other school(s) vote. I still can't believe how lucky Texas was in the formation of the Big 12 that all the other schools gave them ultimate authority over the conference and the ability to make all of the decisions regardless of what the majority wanted.

Revenue sharing - All Texas' fault. Nebraksa and the other 10 schools all voted for equal, only Texas wanted unequal and that is why it passed

Third Tier tv rights- again, all the other schools wanted the conference to keep this, but once agian the Texas vote remains supreme

did I miss any of the other 11 vs 1 votes where TX overruled the rest of the conference?
