Yes. The Spurs supposedly almost signed him last summer but he couldn't get out of his contract.
I'm sure there's a thread about it here somewhere.

Yes,. As it said Spurs tried to sign him last year after Olympics. He's tall, lanky SF that is a defensive, rebounding specialist with so so offense.

He played well versus USA in the pre-Olympics warmup games, as did Kutluay. "Long SF" who defended pretty well. He wasn't that impressive the last time I saw him play, though.
It was announced last summer while the Spurs were in Istanbul that Gonlum had agreed to sign, then it was nixed a day or two later.

Here's to hoping he's more Okur and less Turkoglu.

This, I believe, is what Cosmic Cowboy was linking to in the first post of this thread.
Gonlum To Spurs? - Jun 14, 2005 - by Serdar Ortakuyu
Ulker Istanbul captain Kerem Gonlum (209-C/F-77) told he is hoping to sign with San Antonio Spurs in an interview. Spurs already offered him a contract last summer but Ulker did not let him go.
"If NBA doesn't lock out players i will be looking forward to play for the San Antonio Spurs. They have been watching me all year long and i hope to reach and agreement with them this year." says Turkish international.

I would guess he was the backup plan since Javokatos will not be coming this year.

I'm hoping the Spurs can bring in Oberto instead. I really like his game and size. Also he's a free agent. I think he bought out the remaining of his contract with his Spanish team.

They are bringing in Scola.
One big man at a time.

I think I heard of him in one of the Lord of the Rings episodes. Wasn't he some kind of orc ringleader?
