There has never been anyone who can make me laugh and cringe at the same time like Perry can. Whenever he speaks in a debate and hits that lull with the blank stare I find myself encouraging him to just get through the question. He was doing so good just keeping his answers short and stopping with the Gomer Pyle expression. When he was trying to remember the third agency to complete his point I don't think there was anyone pulling for him more than me. He went off script and went for the homerun and fucked up as only he can.

I think if Perry had skipped all of the debates he would have still been the frontrunner today...or at least in 2nd place. He had enough money and goodwill from his idiot supporters to pull him through regardless.

The saddest thing is not that Rick Perry is still considered a major contender for the GOP nomination.

The saddest thing is that if Obama were to lose the Presidency next year, the Democrats would likely have a Perry-esque equivalent at their debates prior to the '16 election. Scary to think about.

It will be interesting to see if Romney sets his sights on Cain now that Perry has thoroughly destroyed the credibility that he never had in the first place.

My response was to your assertion about Obama and the prospect of debating without a teleprompter. Since he clearly did well against McCain in the last election without a teleprompter, it is clearly a refutation of your most recent assertion about Obama's abilities.

i agree that Perry isn't dumb. he flew in the Airforce. the military doesn't let dummies fly planes worth more than most people will make in a lifetime. some people get early onset dementia or alzheimers. or it could be that he hasn't honed his skills enough over the last 15 years so that he doesn't perform well under the spotlight. the damage is done though. it's over. peoples' perception of him is as low as it can get.

Perry didn't "fool" Texas, Texas is a GOP political machine. No one gives a shit, they just go out and pull the lever marked 'R'. If you make promises to the right people, and just get on the ballot, you're in. If Jesus came back to Earth in all his glory, and ran in TX with a 'D' after his name he'd lose for two reasons: one, the 'D', and two, they'd think he was a Messican.

This is the first time he's actually had to compete. Deep down, I think he doesn't want to run, but his monied backers forced his hand. When you make someone do something they don't want to do, they tend to do a half-assed shitty job.

I somewhat agree. I think he wanted to run but after the first few debates he found out he was in over his head. Now I think he wants out, but knows that it's better to get beat than quit. So he flubs a few more debates, gets beat in the primary and returns to Texas where he can blast the evil media for making him look bad.

FDA Declares Rick Perry a Vegetable

Texas Governor Approved for School Lunches

http://www.borowitzreport.com/wp-content/uploads/perry7.jpg

WASHINGTON – In a decision that raised some eyebrows in the nutrition community, the Food and Drug Administration announced today that it had declared Texas Governor Rick Perry a vegetable.

The decision, effective immediately, means that a serving of Mr. Perry would be approved for school lunches across the nation.

In an official statement, Mr. Perry said he was “surprised and honored” by the FDA’s decision.

“As a vegetable, I am honored to join the other three food groups,” said Gov. Perry. “Meat, dairy, and… nope, can’t do it. Oops.”
