View Full Version : Players you want to see coaches one day

When players retire, they might do various things like joining ESPN or becoming the spokesperson for a brand they represent. Some players like to continue their career with the NBA and become coaches. What current players would you guys like to see become coaches one day?

Fisher always struck me as a the kind of player that can become a good coach. He's a good communicator, good facilitator, intelligent, played under Phil & Sloan and has pretty good experience with clashing egos (Kobe & Shaq).

Duncan also seems like he could possibly be a coach, he knows the game well and is a good team facilitator.

Duncan as a coach?

No fucking way :lol

Regarding clashing egos, the Laker who stood between Kobe and Shaq was Shaw; he had more leadership than Fish (but Im not saying Fish can't coach )

Remember when Pop let the Compost Pile coach for a couple plays last exhibition season? Pop walked away from the timeout huddle and let Manure do it all.

Jesus H. Christ, it was a monumental event in Spurs Fans life. They were all charged up.

Don't get why people say Kidd so much... dude seems like a total dimwit. Then again, Ron Washington seems like a dimwit, but has turned out to be a pretty solid manager, so I guess its possible.

bean3rs and n1ggas = protected races on spurstalk

mavs>spurs
11-16-2011, 09:29 PM
although i dont think younghusband alone was enough to make bean3rs so protected tho, because he's only like 10% bean3r at best imho. i think they also adopted some kids which are like 10% bean3r, and the rest comes from the fact that 80% of spurstalk is fat bean3rs.

10% + 10% + 80% = 100% PROTECTED STATUS MY WETBACK N1GGAS

Question for the board, are illegals more protected on Spurstalk or in America? In both cases they get special treatment over us Americans and never get discliplined imho. ABOVE DA LAW TRAFFIC DEM DRUGS, hood rat shit yeah.

I agree with that completely. It's just that there is a difference between knowing the game, and teaching the game. I just have my doubts as to how good of a teacher he is. But like I said, a perfect example is Ron Washington... doesn't seem like the most intelligent guy right off the bat, but the dude is a very solid manager.

I think comparing a baseball manager to a basketball coach is close to apples or oranges. While the manger has to certainly have a good understanding of the game, there isn't near the amount of game planning, play design, and defensive strategy as the NBA. IMO, being a solid baseball manager is probably much more about player management and team motivation than having a great baseball IQ. Basketball is at least half and half. Also, having a high basketball IQ on the court is not mutually inclusive with having the abilility to coach a team and design multiple defensive and offensive schemes. Also, almost all successful head coaches seem to be pretty intelligent guys.

From what I've seen of Kidd off the court, he'd be a terrible head coach.

Personally, I think Brent Barry would be a pretty good NBA coach.
