26 years old, 6'9 PF, averaged 10 pts - 10 boards in 27 mins last season. Was paid $3.2 million, and it's a unrestricted FA. Avery coached him last year in NJ.

Would he helps us? Thoughts?

id think so, he averaged a double double last year.
im sure he can get more money from a bum team

His rebounding numbers were inflated. Brook Lopez had one of the worst rebounding rates last year. That meant more rebounds were available.

Not really.

Nobody can say for sure, I guess, but as someone mentioned already: not too many double-double guys at his position in the league, much less in this FA class.

Besides, people who pitch a tent on the cover of the National Enquirer usually have media-attention requirements that extend beyond SA's capabilities.

He's ok & very well could end up w a decent contract but I don't know why people are acting like he is some prime FA??

The defense would still suck if we got this guy. I don't see the point.

Since the Spurs cannot get one of the prime Free Agents, that actually might make him a target. Do you think he would fit in with the team? I barely watched the Nets and have no oppinion on this guy.

Does anyone know what kind of defender Humphries is?

Humphries is a rich man's Bonner. Pass.

This guy is certainly not starter material. But he was making peanuts on a bum team, and I thought he would be ok for a guy off the bench.

With guys like Nene/West out there, he's definitely on a second tier, and I was just hoping he would be on our price range.

Maybe if he's cheap but he's not a defender. Plus he'd be a distraction.

Assuming we trade Blair, he would be a decent backup to Tim if Tiago is starting next to him, certainly better than Bonner.

Really? What do they have in common besides a conspicuous absence of melanin?

Last I checked, Humph was only useful in the paint, and we all know Matty is only worth his minutes outside the arc.

My bad, I was thinking of Ryan Anderson.

Yeah, he's much more like Blair than Bonner. Either way, he can't defend the post for shit.

He played for NJ...his grandma could get a double double on that team. He's not what this team needs.

I think he would fit in fine. Again, he isn't great, but he is more skilled all around than Bonner and tougher IMO. He's not underrated or overrated, he really is just a guy that plays. But he does have moments where he can play on both ends. Not a dynamic player on either end, but more athletic than Bonner, more apt to block shots (not necessarily straight up, but weakside, but he can block some straight up as well) and can finish around the rim. He isn't going to space the floor with his shot, but he plays decent inside the paint and rebounds decently.

Basically, just expect a tougher, more athletic version of Bonner that plays inside instead of out (meaning the paint) and blocks shots more as well.

He wouldn't change much for the Spurs, but I'd easily rather have him than Bonner playing the same amount of minutes.

have you seen the FA class of '11

Yes, I still don't think he will be out of range, but bad contracts have been handed out before. There is a long list of FA's ahead of him IMO. Just a list of unrestricted FA's based on talent:

Jamal Crawford
Glen Davis
Troy Murphy
Joel Pryzbilla
Anthony Parker
Jose Barea
Caron Butler
Tyson Chandler
Nene
Tayshaun Prince
Al Thornton
Chuck Hayes
Mike Dunleavy
Jeff Foster
Josh McRoberts
Shane Battier
Michael Redd
Carl Landry
David West
Jason Richardson
Grant Hill
Dalembert
AK47
Josh Howard
Yi Jianlian

That is just unrestricted FA's. Those are all more desirable than Humphries or at least close IMO.

I'm not endorsing Humphries either, I don't think he is all that good. This is more just me wanting Bonner off the team :lol

I know I'm belaboring the issue here, but what specific qualities of Humph's and Bonner's (besides their Caucasian ancestry) invite comparison? It seems like saying Nowitzki and Blake Griffin are similar, or Steve Kerr and Tyreke Evans. What am I missing?

DPG21920
11-29-2011, 06:53 PM
Who said they are similar? I said he plays different, but what I meant when bringing up Bonner was impact/overall level of skill/play.

lolyeah bonner and humps r different players.Bonner is a soft outside shooting big who cant board while kris is all hustle and more willing/effective banging and boarding down low.

I know aj was real high on kris after the year he had but fck yeah id welcome him in sa just dont see it

If you play Duncan at Center and start him at PF, that would seriously take a load off duncan. From what i seen of him he can hit the 15ft shot. Not like dice but enough. He is mobile and as for his help defense to come over and block shots is what the spurs need anyway.

11-30-2011, 02:15 AM
I remember when Humphries shitted all over Duncan that one game when he was with the Mavs. Anyways Humphries would be the ideal backup to Duncan, with us finding a true center, I don't think he is worth a $5 MLE, maybe a LLE to prove himself another year or two, to prove himself that this one year wasn't a fluke.

In the proud tradition of rugged, tough, skilled championship-potential PF/SF combos to play along and support Timmy Duncan, i think Kris Humphries would fit in perfectly for Pops continuation plan....

Mike Finley
Matt Bonner
Soft Dick Jefferson

This should seal the deal: Kris Humphries showing his ability to take a massive blow:
