I'm that Jags Fan. I don't remember claiming the Jags would win the division. If I did I was clearly wrong. They are young and they will most definetly gain more talent without a doubt. There are a few players on IR that are definite prospects to add to the young core of talent. The GM Gene Smith is worth keeping. He is highly regarded throuout the league. There have been sources that have come out after the years that have proven that Gene Smith wanted to draft players such as Rothlisberger, Suggs and so on. Unfortunatly Wayne Weaver had Shack Harris as the primary GM role and he was fucking up pick after pick after pick.

Delrio kind of did get a little bit of a shit deal if you look at it from a talent stand point. The front office routinely drafted busts and went after need in the draft instead of best talent available. They drafted Byron Leftwich when they had Mark Brunell. They drafted horribly in seven years. Just as an example the previous GM drafted 60+ players and the only remaining players out of those 60+ are MJD, Darryl Smith, Marcedes Lewis and Greg Jones. That is fucked up! There was no core being built to sustain any success what soever.

The problem though is that JDR was not that bright of a coach. He just looked tough and Jim Rome always hyped him up as a no bullshit type of guy. here are some things that JDR routinely fucked up.

Training issues: Training camps were too light or practices were too physical. Players were getting hurt in practice mysteriously every fucking year.

Chop that wood!: He was the ultimate Rah Rah coach. Does anyone remember JDR putting a fucking tree stump in the locker room with a fucking axe to chop wood. The kicker literally sliced his fucking foot off. Other than that when you watch his press conferences he always said the same fucking things.

He got in the way: He called the defense and the offense and game plan or he didn't do it all. JDR fired and went through at least 4 offensive coordinators and 4 defensive coordinators and umpteen position coaches.

JDR doesn't coach up players or find players strengths and weaknesses. He refused to break away from things that weren't working until it was too late. He was stubborn as hell and didn't allow players to develop. We would keep six WR's and only play 3 or four. I don't know how many times a player would make a decent play or two and then you never heard from that player again.

Bottom line no accountability: In 9 years coaching the Jags JDR never accepted fault or responsibility. He made a habit of throwing the current OC under the bus all year. In post game press conferences he would literally blame the OC for a call hear or a call there. It got to the point that the owner was falling for that bullshit anymore. When you fire that many OC's and DC's and the head coach is still blaming those coaches then you've run out of chances. The beauty of it all is that those same coordinators that he continuously dragged under the bus will have an opportunity to prove JDR right or wrong. Then I will know that JDR was truly full of shit or not. But after nine years he had plenty opportunity to make something happen and he just didn't do enough. He might be a decent college coach though.

Honestly, have you even been there? If you have I guess you have your reasons. But Jacksonville is beautiful. Like any other major city it has it's share of crappiness. But J'ville has great water sports, fishing, hunting a mecca for golfing, good eats beautiful women great weather and great location. Atlanta, Tallahassee, Orlando, Daytona, Tampa, Ft.Lauderdale and Miami are all relatively close. At least within 6 hours drive or closer.

"Keep Chopping Wood." It was intended to indicate how they were to slowly whittle away the huge obstacle in the way of improving the team.
