Let's take a break from the bickering to honor one another, shall we?

Many battles have been waged on these hallowed forum grounds, each of them solving absolutely nothing and changing the hearts and minds of no one. It is through the work of the posters that nothing is ever accomplished, and we should reward and recognized that lack of accomplishment.

So let's nominate posters for awards in the following categories, with voting to take place on a separate occasion. The top 5 nominees in each category will make it to final round.

Also, feel free to suggest any additional categories.

1. Best Poster of a Conservative Leaning.

2. Best Poster of a Liberal Leaning.

3. Best Poster of an Independent Leaning.

4. Worst/Most Embarrassing Conservative Poster.

5. Worst/Most Embarrassing Liberal Poster.

6. Worst/Most Embarrassing Independent Poster.

7. Most Entertaining Troll.

8. Most Annoying Troll.

9. Most knowledgeable poster.

10. Least knowledgeable poster.

11. Most open-minded poster.

12. Most closed-minded poster.

13. Fail of the year.

14. Thread of the Year.

15. Poster of the Year.

Edit: Two New Categories:

16. Most Insightful thread starter.

17. Most thought/discussion provoking thread starter.

Without any explanation of the judging, it seems a little like a popularity contest. Might I suggest that you have subcategories for poster and thread starter. Thread starter either being someone with the most insightful OP or one that creates an actual discussion.

Good points.

Would you suggest a "best/worst threadstarter" in every category, or just a couple like "Most insightful thread starter" and "Most provocative/discussion inspiring thread starter"?

I have a hard time choosing from the experts in their fields as most knowledgeable poster. FWDT, Scott, Agloco, and LNG all come to mind. If I had to pick one I'd go with Agloco.

Random Guy gets my vote for most open mind and he gets it by a long shot. I've never seen anyone else approach his level of patience for reading shit posted by Wild Cobra. The man was likely a saint in a past life.

My favorite poster this year has actually been LNG though. He's got the right combination of Open Mindedness, Knowledge, and Entertainment Value making him a triple threat.

Thread of the Year for me is the climate thread although the one where Fuzzy busted out the partschanger moniker that has stuck so well is a close second. In the climate one, Darrin and WC provide a lot of laughs for me and in Fuzzy's WC provided the laughs. That being said, I think out of the two only Darrin is a real poster so that pushes it over the top.

These type of topics have lost all cache and credibility especially when done wrong.

Back in 96 at the Jim Rome smack chat forum and later at the TRolls.net the topic starter had the list completed.

He took the time to give his opinions of who was the best posters etc...

It wasn't a vote for your favorite poster contest it was a legitimate list of who post funny shit, intelligent shit, gay shit, etc...

Other posters would chime in on who they might want as the "Most interesting poster" or "most annoying" poster. They didn't go around "Glossing " each other and trying to make friends.

But this i don't need to tell the old skool posters of the www this info is for the RedZero's of the world and his Romper room friends who treat the politics forum like a Jr high cafeteria.

With that said my list is as follows..........

at #10 Agloco

Although he is a self absorbed douche with posters who don't agree with him or didn't score a 90 on they're SAT test. he does add an extra element to the forum that can't be found by lets say...GRrrrr or johnsmith

I must say he post like Mr. Wizard in here but what I find odd he seems to posts like a game stop employee in the Club.

Its almost like he shares his laptop with a roommate. I must say allowing him to be on the "top 10" list was not easy, there are so many others who deserve it.

I would be inclined to agree with most of what you've written... but then as I survey the general consensus of the thread, it's hard to deny that the tone is unabashedly liberal. By virtue of the political leanings / philosophical demographics in this forum, "open-mindedness" hence is strictly being gauged from that perspective alone... and by definition flawed (not trying to single you out MannyIsGod, just that your post provided enough of a starting point to note this observation).

IMO the most "open minded" posters in this forum were/are Extra Stout and FromWayDowntown. Everyone else, myself included, is way too emotionally invested in their own opinions to be able to fully speak on the subjects in this forum objectively. So, short of making another list, :lol this bias attribute weighs heavily on everyone here other than the two posters I mentioned... everyone else, we downright 'suck' at being able to maintain objectiveness...

My 2 cents...

I'm always correct. You just can't handle the truth tbh.

I like most of RG's posts in this forum...they are insightful, well-resourced and RG makes his stand and sticks to it..he doesn't waffle much..he's not much of a compromiser either...it's RG's way or the highway...probably just his nature...anything you post that doesn't fit into RG world is a grand conspiracy....forget facts, forget having an open mind, forget compromise....still, if there is one poster who regularly makes a stand, whose posts are well thought out, and doesn't just regularly nitpick other people post it's RG...

It's hard to keep up false persona in a political forum because you constantly have to fight revealing yourself by your 'personal beliefs and political leanings'.....Marcus Bryant is one of the best at this in the short term but in the long term his true persona always manages to overpower the false persona who he is trying to portray.....

It's not often you meet a person who has been around since the PMSA TRoll.net RackTheTRolls and SpursReport era.

#1 Nbadan and ChumpDumper

Nbadan is the glue of the forum back in the day when no one was posting he still keep things moving.
He is maybe the most dedicated poster of the politics forum and has no problem debating an issue. And can pull out links and videos Google had no idea were around.

The man is a combination of many posters already mentioned and deserves to share the #1 spot on the list.

ChumpDumper

Is the only poster I literately wanted to give up when debating. Most of the time its due to a poster acting like a child and ruining the debate but Chump takes getting under your skin to levels not seen before.

No matter who is winning the debate he is sure to get the last word in. His stubbornest is second to none. It wouldn't matter If Bush and the crew who planted the explosives at WTC buildings confessed on Larry King he would convince you its a coverup of some sort. The only other poster who can come close to his determination to stick to his cause is Cosmored and he is well known around the www and many talk shows.

You may not like ChumDumper but if you post in here you will recolonize his presents.

Random guy as earned his status through the test of time as someone that if your gonna take on, you better bring your facts straight, or its not gonna be a long debate....makes some poster crumble to their posting knees and very seldom gets proven wrong...although it does happen and when it does....out comes the group-think and conspiracy card...so predictable but yet so genuine...here's to you RG...you are now an elder-statesman of the Spurstalk political forum.....one who must be reckoned with, one who must be respected, one who can not just be ignored...
