It was a good call. That guy should not have got that close to the kicker. Terrible way to lose the game, but that's the rule.

Good call just stupid rule.

I understand the roughing the kicker penalty but I've never liked this running into the kicker crap. It's too easy to flop, or miss the call. If the guy clearly tries to avoid him then nothing should be called.

a rule is a rule, but that kicker pulled a CP3-Spin flop

In the post game, D'Antonio said he called for the punt block. He may just be trying to protect his player. But if it's true, the loss is squarely on D'Antonio. Flop or not, the kicker did get hit. You just can't put yourself in a position for that play to happen. At worst, you were going to get decent field position with a couple minutes.

D'Antonio has proven to be a really good coach, but sometimes his ego and arrogance gets in the way. In several of his losses over the last few seasons, the media has criticized him for taking poor risks because of his arrogance. D'Antonio just cost his team and school their first Rose Bowl in 24 years.
