He shot 40% from 3 last season. Year before that he hit 43% from deep range. He can shoot the 3 ball just fine.

I'll take Grant. Every time I see him play he seems to have spry legs still. I guess that's a result of his injuries. He's a pretty good defenders and can hit mid-range shots.

Overall a big upgrade over Rj and that's good enough for me. I want to hear something about a big though.

Hill missed fewer games in the last 4 seasons than he did in the first 4 healthy seasons of his career. I would have bet against it, and I would have lost. Who knows how much more he has in the tank? There has to be some end to it, but he didn't show a lot of signs of it last season.

That being said, I wonder what team fielded the oldest starting five in history? If the Spurs could just bring back Jacques Vaughn for one game, they could start Duncan, Vaughn, Manu, Grant Hill, and McDyess. That crew would average 36 years 8 months. That's gotta be pretty close to a record.

Yeah Grant has the ability to shoot off dribble and drive to basket. He has great basketball IQ and a good passer. Solid defender. Plus he would still allow Leonard to get 18-20 minutes a game.

I would love to have Hill on a Spurs uniform, he can play defense.. his basketball IQ is through the roof, and he can be an excellent mentor for Leonard. We should be having more faith in Leonard.. I think Hill can stay healthy, he has the body of a 30 year old :lol 2 year deal would be more than fine.. IMO, I would rather have him than Howard.

timvp
12-08-2011, 06:12 PM
I'd be f'ing thrilled with Hill. Sign him for two years and the Spurs could build a bridge to Leonard being ready to take the reins as the full time small forward. And if Leonard is ready before then, Hill could be still be good in a lesser role.

I completely agree with the Spurs being willing to offer two years. This is a guy who was on his way to being a first ballot Hall of Famer until his ankle almost had to be amputated. He may be 39 technically but he has the knees of a 33 or 34 year old.

It'd be exciting to have a perimeter defender who can actually defend.

Do it :tu

Out of Butler, Battier, and Hill, Grant was the option I was most hoping for. I've always liked his game and would love to see him as a Spur.

Then again, I don't like the report coming out in the media, because rumors and reality rarely seem to coincide in the Spurs favor.

Sense

Yes I like it but come on what are we doing trying to get older? Spurs would be wise if we cant find a way to steal a big to do TD and Manu right and deal them to Okl to help KD get a ring.

TD-Manu to Okl for Serge, Harding, Westbrook and Fillers maybe collison.

Be good for both Teams.

:lol

No one is trying to get older, we need a starting SF RIGHT NOW and there's nothing better than a true professional who can defend and mentor our future SF...

for all you guys hating on grant hill he gave that suns team life when there shouldn't have been, and you have to think about locker room presence its an important variable to consider.

while i agree with his lack of 3 ball you have to look at what we really needed last year and that was some damn passion for the game more manu energy more players with heart we had 3's pouring all year and then they choked in the P.o's!!

jefferson/parker/bonner/played with as much heart as they would in a scrimmage game. pop f course keeping all our players with balls out the game as usual.. and on the subject of bonner i dont want that piece of crap wasting another minute of our time. now i hear trade talk pertaining tiago and chicago ??

The Arizona Republic's Paul Coro also reports that there's "continued optimism" that Hill will stay in Phoenix. Coro also reports the Suns are close to landing backup point guard Sebastian Telfair.

Phoenix Suns close to contract with guard Sebastian Telfair
"We are moving closer," Telfair's agent, Andy Miller, said Wednesday night. "I anticipate us being able to put something together on Friday. We're having advanced dialogue."

Not sure if this affects much in the Hill sweepstakes with Telfair being a guard, other than maybe the money that Phoenix will be able to offer to Hill. Too lazy to look up their salary situation and figure out the math right now.

Spurs aren't winning shit any time soon. They should be stocking up with draft picks and young players instead of going for fossils. All I care about this season is seeing Manu & Duncan play their last couple years together. The window is closed. Build for the future.

Battier, Butler, Josh Howard, Hill... who else was supposed to replace Richardson?

Are we out of SF options?

Besides, for all the nice things people say about Hill, I'll never forget he had a chance to come here a few years ago and one of his deciding factors (supposedly, again, obviously I wasn't there, just what I read at the time) was how practices were run by the Suns versus Pop and how hard Pop would work his guys versus the Suns, and treated everyone the same.

That told me something, especially from a guy coming off all of those years of injuries. Maybe I'm being insensitive or unfair and he has a legit reason to not want to kill himself in practice so he can prolong his career. Or maybe he had earned the right to say he didn't deserve to be treated or talked down to like a rookie.

But all I heard was "hard work, no thanks". I don't know, maybe he's right, Pop needs to lighten up. :ihit

Grant can help in a couple of ways. He's a great defender and you can run the offense through him because he's a great passer and has a high basketball iq. However he's not a good 3pt shooter.

I'm still mad at him for hitting those jumpers of Duncan in game 2 in '10. That really exposed Duncan's defensive decline. Never before would a team have thought of attacking Duncan for his lack of defense. What I didn't understand about the Spurs strategy in that series is why they didn't leave him open when all the other players were 3pt threats. If you had a choice between leaving JRich open or him it would have to be him.
