View Full Version : And small market teams want the Lakers to contribute more in revenue sharing?

It'll be interesting to see the fallout from this.

It'd be one thing if the Lakers legitimately attempted to pull off another Kwame-Gasol type of trade, but this was far from that. This is straight up All-Star for All-Star with 6th man of the year thrown in. It's a fair trade and one that would have gone through if the Lakers weren't involved. Everyone here knows that.

Small market teams biting the hand that feeds them, can't wait to see how this plays out.

it wont play out. paul is stuck in new orleans unless he is traded to the twolves or pacers. the owners will then swim in the money coming out of buss' pockets.

Small market teams played their hand too aggressively.

Buss has sat back and allowed them to voice their grievances during this recent CBA but enough is enough. You don't ever bite the hand that feeds you. Shit about to get ugly.

Son if LA had never pulled off the most bullshit trade in history they wouldnt have even had the piece that would have driven this deal home.

Phil Jackson called it:

Former Lakers coach Phil Jackson foresaw this controversy back on Dec. 29, 2010, saying about the day Paul demands a trade: “Who’s going to pull the button on it? When Chris says he has to be traded, how’s that going to go? (http://lakers.ocregister.com/2010/12/29/phil-jackson-questions-nba-owning-hornets/45858/) … Someone’s going to have to make a very nonjudgmental decision on that part that’s not going to irritate anyone else in the league.”

Kind of pathetic how people were crying foul when Lakers brought Gasol in, and now he's a piece of trash compared to CP3. What a joke.

Lakers gave away their 2nd and 3rd leading scorers. Give me a fucking break. Small market owners who are hijacking this league are about to get a rude awakening.

The Lakers should drop a $1 billion lawsuit on the NBA and David Stern tomorrow morning. Paul should just say his hamstring hurts and sit out indefinitely at full pay.

You don't need a doctor to say your hamstring hurts. He can't be forced to play and he CAN collect all his money while he sits.

My posts are brilliant, if you don't know me you must not have been posting here very long. I am a legendary poster.

And on a sidenote, everyone, here's something DazedAndConfused said about Javaris Crittenton at the time of the Gasol trade in an attempt to call it fair:

And you all thought this kid was scrub filler. I told you he had talent. He will be a very good starter in the next 2-3 years no question.

:lmao all the Lakers fans saying Crittenton was gonna be good

without cp3 and dwest on the books, the hornets payroll is below 20m

why would the other 29 owners trade cp3 for lakers/rockets trash and push up that team payroll to 50-55m? thats about 2m each for each owner, hence the extra 15-20m stake they have in the team just to keep it afloat and their own team commitments...

laker/rocket only gains from this trade, while the hornets take up the bad contracts, you say they are gettin talent worth...where is the talent? if the talent was so good how come the rockets didnt make the playoffs last season, gettin gasol is like turning ur team into the memphis gasol team...hornets buying 2 years of mediocrity, when they can just let cp3 and west walk and get no trash in return, rebuild through draft....hence there are better offers out there.

lol rockets still overrating there shit hole roster

Thing is I was not even 100% sold on the deal we trading two bigs for a small, though excellent PG with a bum knee...so the deal doesnt dissapoint me that much.

What DOES bother me is ...

1. What this does to the fragile psyches of Pau and Odom
2. what does this do to Brown being able to get the team's "buy-in" on his system, when key members are pondering their futures?
3. I don't get how a deal agreed to by 3 seperate GM's gets nixed for basketball reasons ...if it was just NO and L.A. I might understand but this deal was accpted by 3 seperate franchises with no connection. Makes no sense.

But I was glad to see the forum shitting bricks for a while ...somehow Mitch/Buss will ficx this ...one trade or another will be worked out ...

the problem here was the 29 other team owners dont wanan add more money into a fail team, what the lakers and rockets just did was pile on more salary to the NOH. The hornets are under the cap, they would rather go the sterling root operate a team while cashin on the teams payin luxury tax gettin redistributed back to teams under the cap...

But there is a salary floor and they actualy got some talent you cant trade Paul for picks only and players only. they still need to field a credible team.

1. Fragile psyches have no business wearing championship rings
2. Every worker should ponder their future. It's the only carrot on a stick that the employers have once contracts are signed.
3. Deals that seem to always give the Lakers everything for nothing make sense to Laker fans, but no one else.

Now the other half is shitting bricks.

One year on a contract vs multi year deals for players on a team that's floated by the league isn't good business sense.

Just admit it was collusion and move on.

Not quite. Team docs can advise, but the player has the right to go to his own doc and if his doc recommends "sit," there ain't jack shit the team can do about it. And doctors ALWAYS recommend that you sit and get more treatment because they don't want to get sued.

That was how Shaq forced the trade to MIA - his doc was recommending toe surgery even though the Laker docs said he could play. If he had been dealt to a team he didn't like, he was going to get the surgery and sit out the season.

Ditto T-Mac - he was about to get traded by Houston and had surgery right before the deadline to kill the deal.
