The Nets are "closing in" on a contract with Nene.
The team reportedly increased the offer to Nene last night, and it sounds like it's possible a deal may get done soon. Considering how fast and furious rumors are flying, there's also a chance a deal doesn't get done at all. Clearly, New Jersey is clearly being aggressive in its approach to improve.

Better than getting Howard if true. Nene+Lopez>>>Howard.

Nene, Howard and Williams is a pretty good nucleus.

+1. It's going to be a battle of "Big 3's" in the East if this happens. Wade-LeBron-Bosh in Miami, Pierce-Allen-Garnett in Boston, Melo-Stoudemire- Chandler in NY, and Howard-Williams-Nene in Jersey...not bad.

At least the one in New Jersey is likeable.

if the Nets sign Nene and the rockets lose out on him...do the rockets still do the CP3 deal?

Maybe, if they just wanted to enter rebuilding mode for the fuck of it. Realistically, if they were doing this for Nene, then no.

if they wanted to go into full rebuild mode then why even trade for pau at all. Im sure they can trade off the same guys for expiring deals elsewhere.

If nene goes to the nets, then im thinking LA/NO has to find a new 3rd team or send another bottle of Jack to Morey.

they can still go after marc gasol, but with the danger of the contract beign matched. the problem with the deal is it cannot be done the same way it was agreed to. they would have to start from scratch.

Again, giving up high draft picks would indicate that they aren't rebuilding.

Good signing if they can do it for $13 million or less. Then they could amnesty Outlaw and have $16-$17 million next summer to throw at Dwight by not picking up the QO on Lopez.

deal makes no sense if Dwight rumors are true ....

You have to wonder if Orlando is willing to even look NJ's way considering the tampering story.

Dwight to Nets probably was to make people believe CP3+D12 to LAL can't happen. I don't even know what can happen anymore, LAL might not even get either.

amnesty Outlaw, sign nene,

sign and trade humphries along with Lopez and some picsk for Howard/Turkoglu

Possible?

Dwill/Turkoglu/Nene/Howard would be a monster in the East.

Nope. Not possible. Nets would be adding $25 million in salary and would need $10-$12 million or so for Nene. They can only get their payroll down to $33 million by amnestying Outlaw.

Not sure that they could sign someone else's free agent and trade him like that, could they?
