Now that he's gotten over his second-season jitters, he should fold perfectly into the system.

I hate Dick as much as the next guy but his stroke looks really really good tbh (no homo). You can tell hes put alot of time into it, improvement over last yr and unrecognizable compared to his first season here. He looks like the best shooter on the team out there. Even though we brought him here for his slashing it looks like he might just be able to have an impact as a shooter.

RJ playing just well enough to keep leonard from getting heavy minutes. then he will proceed to suck in the playoffs. just jefferson's way of paying back the spurs for beating him in 2003.

He was playing great the previous season at the start, obviously he has the talent to be good. Not sure what happened then. It's good to see him play well again. The Spurs need him to play well in the playoffs to have chances of winning it all.

DesignatedT

He looks different than last season though. Last season he was just shooting the ball well and mainly from the corners. Right now he looks a lot more poised, comfortable out there offensively on all spots of the court and his shot looks as pretty as ever. His defense is also by far the best it's been since he's been here these last couple games. I hope he can keep it up but we'll see. Doesn't matter if you can't do it when the bright lights are shining.

The decision to amnesty him this summer will not depend on his play in the regular season but the playoffs. That's if he last until the playoffs, there is always the possibility for him to be traded, the only thing is that really hasn't been FO's style, to trade a guy who is playing well, having said that did'nt we trade Sean Ellot before, was it for Rodman, horry ? Can anyone recall?

therealtruth
12-28-2011, 11:44 PM
It would have been a bad decision to amnesty him. I think playing with TJ Ford also helps his confidence. So far Parker hasn't gone into ball hogging mode but TJ offers insurance when he does.

timvp
12-28-2011, 11:45 PM
After getting reminded how much of a ballstopper Caron Butler is, I'm actually thankful RJ is still here if Caron was the main alternative. As fourth or fifth options, RJ >>>>> Caron.

timtonymanu
12-28-2011, 11:45 PM
I'll give it to RJ though. He looks decent so far when I thought he would mentally check out once the amnesty rumors came around. Glad he's playing through it so far.

Still, there's the risk he may eventually disappear especially when Neal comes back.

In the past, Jefferson had no competition at his position. This year he does. Maybe that'll help him have a strong year.

GSH
12-28-2011, 11:46 PM
The first four games of last season, Jefferson had 16,18,18,28.
The last four games of last season, Jefferson had 4,0,6,0.

I'm not exactly ready to throw a party over the first two games of this season.

If RJ is ballin' still around deadline, he could bring a decent trade. He's a pig in a poke for the next team though.

Him playing well will also increase the chances that he will be traded which I think the Spurs would do no matter how well he's playing.

If in this playoffs I see him staying away from the three point line (therefore fucking up our spacing) 'cause he's too scare to shoot 3s like he did in the two postseason he spent with us I'll fly to San Antonio just to shoot him in the balls.

Spurs are stuck with RJ till the amnesty, no matter how well he plays.

If you were GM of some team, would you want that sack of shit? Of course not.

An RJ appreciation thread? Really? After his shitty play in the playoffs? The hell with him till he does this in the playoffs.

I think two indicators of how well he'll keep it up are if he's second on the team in scoring and Parker is averaging around 7-8 apg. It's basically what happened at the start of last season. Yet later in the season Parker's scoring went up and his assists went down. I think Parker's finding the right balance right now. I also think TJ Ford is helping RJ since he looks to facilitate.

The first 4 games of last season, R.J. posted 16, 18, 18, and 28.
Tha last 4 games of last season, R.J. posted 4,0,6, and 0.
I'm not ready to nominate him for MVP. But I'll say this in his favor: with all the negative comments, and all the talk about amnesty in the offseason, he has come out playing hard. A lot of guys wouldn't do that.

His contract is guaranteed, no matter what he does. He could have just said "screw 'em", or he could have totally lost confidence and disappeared. Give credit where it's due. Jefferson is obviously trying to step up and earn his money. I hope he can keep it up.

RJ seems to have his long range stroke down for sure. I don't want to be skeptical, but I need to see it continue in the post season before I become a true believer. I have never doubted his ability, just his desire at times.

Rj probably has more confidence is his shooting stroke than he did last season. He started off great, but probably lost some confidence along the way. Let's see if he can keep it up, if he can do it then I gotta give him props for reworking his shot. Right now he is shooting lights out.
