Story to come on SI.com, but Orlando CEO Alex Martins disputes the claim of Dwight Howard's agent that permission was given to talk to teams

Orlando PR man Joel Glass calls to inform that D. Howard's agent now has permission to speak w/ Lakers, Nets, & Mavs about possible trade.

Any chance that Dallas is a for sure thing? What could
Tey offer?

DMC

Who would the Mavs trade for Howard? The entire roster outside of Dirk?

Howard aint looking at no Texas team though. He wants to be in a bigger market, LA or NY.

Since the Knicks just acquired Chandler, unless he's going to be traded right away, I don't see them getting another center of that magnitude.

He might end up in LA, but for the price (if LA doesn't get him for a couple towels and an invite to the Playboy mansion) it might screw the Lakers more than help them.

Think 3 team deals. Outside shot but think Dallas absorbing bad contract, giving picks and orl get players.

It's LAL or NJ, real talk

Bynum/Lopez + taking turkeyglue off their hands + another piece

That's pretty much what it will come down to.

DMC

No team in their right mind trades Howard for Bynum, even with a salary dump. That would be worse than the Gasol deal.

Teams jostle to maintain the imbalance in the league, days after they spent months trying to correct it (we all know they were price chopping).

Just shows even more that the revenue sharing is going to cause more collusion.

Not straight up, but with extra pieces. Would Nets even be able to help them out with turkey glue after getting nene? That's a mandatory thing for any deal for D12.

From JOsh robbins Orlando Sentinel:

If ESPN.com’s report is true — that Dwight Howard’s representatives have told the New Jersey Nets that they’re his top destination and that he’ll ask the Orlando Magic to trade him there — then the Magic are in big trouble.

If Howard makes it known that he will only sign long-term with New Jersey, other potential bidders would be scared away by the slim chances of re-signing him.

And if other teams are too scared to make substantial bids, the Nets will have the best offer on the block.

Magic officials like Lopez, a 7-foot-tall center who is about to enter only his fourth NBA season.

But that “like” is relative. The number of quality centers is at its lowest level in decades, and it’s not necessarily a great achievement to be, say, the eighth- to 10th-best center in the game. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Andrew Bynum, another 7-footer, hasn’t reached his potential yet, and he’s an injury risk already at 24 years old with questionable knees. But his upside is much higher than Lopez’, and Magic officials know it.What the Nets could offer is the ability to put the Magic far under the cap: The Magic would be sending out far more money than they’d be taking in. And then the Magic could use the amnesty provision on Gilbert Arenas.

Unlike some of you dummies most peole realize Bynum is better than Lopez. Nets willlingness to eat contracts is what makes Nets desirable not Lopez who is softer than Pau ...

Howard didn’t come along in the draft until 2004, and even then, the Magic were lucky to have won the draft lottery

If Dwight wants to go to NJ and eventually Brookyln then he's as dumb as Cully says he is...which I think so anyway...dude ain't winning shit in Brooklyn with Chicago and Miami in the East...Dwight is a fucking fool if he goes there...and if he does it's not about winning that's for sure.

Tampering Charge Could Cost Nets Deron

Dec 10, 2011 10:50 AM EST

If Mikhail Prokhorov broke the rules and met with Dwight Howard, then it’s not just that Howard will never be a Net, even if that idea was something of a stretch to begin with.

If Prokhorov met with Orlando’s superstar big man in Miami the other night and the NBA has a watertight case of tampering against the Nets owner, then he probably just killed any chance of re-signing Deron Williams.

Williams is saying all the right things about staying long-term with the Nets. But if the team is penalized because its owner and GM brazenly flouted the rules by meeting with a player who currently is property of another team, then the Nets are looking at losing several No. 1 draft picks, at the very least.

if the nets get Howard , Nene and Deron together, they could be the second best team in the nba.

It looks like he's going to the Nets but the only trades that would actually be fair to the Magic with each of those teams would be Dwight for Deron, Dirk, or Kobe, and we know that's not happening.

Don't see how D12 for KB24 would be fair, they have enough fucked up contracts.
