Howard maintains his decision was multifaceted and came down to feeling he didn't have an ideal situation to pursue an NBA title.

Specifically, Howard said overall he didn't feel satisfied with the talent around him and he would like to have the kind of personnel input he said Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki enjoys.

"If Dirk told (Dallas owner) Mark (Cuban) 'Hey, I think this is the direction our team is going, this is what we need in the locker room and these are the kind of players we need,' I think Mark would listen," Howard said. "That doesn't mean Mark has to say, OK, we'll make a rash decision. But I think he would listen and really found out what the player needs around him in order to win."

Of course, it all ultimately comes down to what Orlando feels they get the best deal, but its nice to know Dwight legitimately holds the Mavs and their FO in high regards...

So did Lebron. Holding them in high regard and wanting to live in Dallas is two different things.

Why would dwight go to a team with an ageing roster? He wants to contend for a decade imo

Every team has an aging roster. We are all aging at the same rate.

Howard to OKC. That's the ticket.

Obviously because he has faith in their FO. As long as Dirk has been with Dallas, he has had an insane number of different players come through and leave Dallas, but it has always been enough to at least be a dangerous playoff team on an annual basis. I think Dwight likes the fact that he would be listened to in a place like Dallas, considering he has made accusations that the Orlando FO doesn't take his opinions very seriously.

He has made it clear he likes Dallas, but its very possible that this was mostly aimed as a shot at his current FO.
