I think Mavs and Thunder fight it out, like everyone else says. It depends on A) How well these new guys play together and if they show up mentally in Dallas, and B) How much the Thunder improve naturally from last year.

Neither win the championship, though.

For OKC to be legit, Westbrook needs to become clever and stops dumb plays when the game is on the line and they need the back pack guy to become a leader. Won't happen this year IMHO

With current roasters Mavs are the favorites. Last I checked they still have the best player in the West. They already had the best bench and now it's even better with Odom. They lost Chandler and yet only 2 teams in the entire conference might say they have a better front court than the Mavs (Lakers and Memphis).

Then the Lakers and OKC.

Findog
12-12-2011, 06:25 PM
I still don't understand why the Mavs didn't think Chandler was worth resigning at 4/58. He was our second-best player and was the presence in the middle we've always sorely lacked.

I like our team as is, and I think we'll be in the mix, but right now I have us behind OKC. When it comes to continuity and talent in a short season, the Thunder have everybody in the West beat.

I guess they figure they can land one of Howard, Williams, and Paul next summer. Getting Odom was a pretty good move to retain that flexibility without writing off the repeat bid.

TC was the hinge to our success last season but im not sure if he would continue with similar level of workrate after signing a long lucrative contract. mavs would be glad to re-sign him to a 1yr or 2 year contract, but not a long term deal.

lets just wait and see if TC continues to beast in NY as he did last season, or if he chooses to fold up and rest like a contract whore

Either the Champion Mavs or Memphis.

PS- How can anybody still pick The Thunder? WestBrick will always shoot them out of ball games, Durant also will sit there shooting contested 30 footers in crunch time. And if the league seriously enforces that his "rip" move becomes a no-call then he's in some real trouble. The Thunder are pretenders imho, they have a lot to prove.

Thunder. Combination of Youth, depth and continuity. A second string of maynor, Harden(or Thabo), Cook, Collison and Nazr is decent.

Not a clear favourite though. I could see Memphis, Dallas, Lakers or the Spurs coming 1st in the Reg season, playoffs could go anyway depending on matchups.

TJ Ford is more of a point guard than Hill. Splitter's been in the league for a year now, he'll get some pt. Neal's also got another year under him. Kawhi Leonard's going to be a fucking beast. Speaking of beasts, Blair's in shape. I'm also pretty sure Steve Novak's gone. That's one less 6'10 three point shooting white guy. Even though he's really good at what he does.
