Wow, wonder if danny green makes the team.

Not surprising. I thought Green was better anyway.

Best of luck to Da'Sean though.

I'm assuming he never fully recovered from that knee injury. Too bad.

The timing of this is a bit odd, though. Shouldn't they have kept him around in case they wanted to use his unguaranteed contract in a trade? I thought that was part of the reason they used part of the MLE to sign him last season to a multi-year deal. Guess not . . .

For once, the Spurs are somewhat stacked at the SF position. And yes, even though most of us have not seen Butler in action, Green has seemingly been the more promising young player. After all, let's not forget that Green's effort and promise was rewarded by Pop entrusting some spot playoff minutes to him in that disastrous Memphis series.

Can't say I agree with this at all. Haven't even gotten to see him play seriously yet.

Crap, I was hoping he'd be able to overcome that injury.

That was a horrific injury. Hope that he regains enough ability to carve out a career overseas.

I'd say that's the problem.

To be fair he has been hurt, and considering Pop's philosophy of not playing young players until they "get over themselves" it's understandable he hasn't gotten a chance to play. Either he must've shown something the staff didn't like or the FO is trying to make it seem like they're making moves.

Bummer.

After what he had to overcome and the general impression I got of him while he was at WV, I was hoping he would pull through and be a part of this team. Good luck to Da'Sean in the next step of his career.

Yeah, it's possible that he never regained his pre-injury form.

So we are waiving people as Denver just stole Rudy and Brew for a second rounderSo you're saying they used a trade exception?

He definitely never regained his pre-injury form, or he'd have at least stuck with Miami.

I wondered about that when I saw it. Could he be trying to get a deal overseas, and they let him go so that he could have an opportunity. That's the only thing I can think of that makes any sense. If that's it, this is one hell of a nice FO.

The timing of the waiving should be because of the 20 man limit roster. Before waiving Butler, Spurs had 20 players under contract. If Spurs wants to sign Joseph because his visa issues are solved, they needed to waive someone first.

And it sucks for Butler that he obviously still hasn't fully recover form his knee injury. Good luck to him whether it's in Europe or in D-League.

That terrible injury may have kept Butler from any meaningful basketball career. Too bad because from all reports he is a great kid and had a terrific work ethic in trying to come back and play.

I hope he does well at whatever comes next in his life.

Ever since I saw that video of him with Huggins, I've wanted him to be able to come fully back. Was really hoping it would be as a Spur.
