I have no idea if this was posted in any other threads, but I figured it deserved it's very own official thread. Keep in mind, the Cult of Mormon has had a history of Anti-Black policies so it really shouldn't come as a surprise.

GOP = officially buttf*cked

Willard Gekko also slimed Barry for not bombing the drone in Iran.

Well, Chris had to apologize for first jumping on the bandwagon...then, he threw the flag.

Before you go too far with that thought, the anti black sentiment was among most churches of the past. To continue with this line against Mormons only is being bigoted in itself.

So you recognize the Cult of Mormon as a Church? Oh, okay. :rollin

Perhaps some of you missed the point. MSNBC did not lie or take his words out of context (and the context is something I'll get into in a bit). Romney had used this phrase for some time, a phrase that in itself was used by various groups over the last century with specific motives in mind. However, no one has really tried to crack what vision of America this dude wants...does he want the revolutionary America, does he want the slave-owning America, maybe civil-rights advocating America, or maybe he means Cold War America? We are dictated by the times, the times are always changing, and the country will either regress or progress - no President can "keep" this place any one thing. We lack a national character because it is always changing depending on which side raises more money...and the money is switching hands so fast these days that the political parties themselves lack any character. Real sad to see Romney fall off like a bitch, but he's lucky all the other news outlets are too scared to press him on it.

Agreed.

"Keep America American" isnt exactly some hallmark in colorful language. Its a slogan I could have come up with on my own and never know that it was associated with the KKK.

Looks like presidential hopefuls are now going to have to read all the racist literature in the world to prevent using the same slogans they used inadvertently.

Weak, indeed.

but since so many other people already knew about the phrases's KKK/nativist/xenophobic/exclusionary/white-supremacist usage, one would think that Willard Gekko's deep pockets could pay for researchers on this staff to reduce his foot-in-mouth outbreaks.

or maybe Willard was desperately dog-whistling to those hate groups.

Seriously?

Yes, I'm sure that's what Romney wants.

Slaves. Just waiting to get the election in the bag and then BOOM - executive order repealing the 14th amendment.

Contradicting Romney’s Account, Fellow Missionaries Say Candidate Lived In A ‘Palace’ On Mission

Seeking to show Americans that he can understand their troubles, multimillionaire GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been harping on the supposedly hardscrabble 30 months he spent in France as a Mormon missionary. Romney said he lived in apartments that were so rundown that he was forced to defecate in a bucket and shower with a hose. “Most of the apartments I lived in had no refrigerators,” Romney said last week at a town hall New Hampshire. “I don’t actually recall any of them having a refrigerator.” Watch it, via Patch:

The Paris Mission Home where Romney spent much of his time as a missionary
Seeking to show Americans that he can understand their troubles, multimillionaire GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been harping on the supposedly hardscrabble 30 months he spent in France as a Mormon missionary. Romney said he lived in apartments that were so rundown that he was forced to defecate in a bucket and shower with a hose. “Most of the apartments I lived in had no refrigerators,” Romney said last week at a town hall New Hampshire. “I don’t actually recall any of them having a refrigerator.” Watch it, via Patch:

But according to fellow American missionaries who spoke with the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph, Romney not only had a refrigerator and toilet, but a lot more. The missionaries said Romney spent most of his time in France in a Paris mansion that some described as a “palace.” It featured a cook, a servant, stained glass windows and expensive art, and later became an embassy:

Although he spent time in other French cities, for most of 1968, Mr Romney lived in the Mission Home, a 19th century neoclassical building in the French capital’s chic 16th arrondissement. “It was a house built by and for rich people,” said Richard Anderson, the son of the mission president at the time of Mr Romney’s stay. “I would describe it as a palace”. [...]

The building, on Rue de Lota, was bought by the Mormons in 1952, having been seized by the Nazis during the Second World War. The Church sold it again in the 1970s, and it was until recently the embassy of the United Arab Emirates. It is currently worth as much as $12 million (£7.7 million).

It’s entirely possibly that Romney lived in hovels in addition to the Mission Home, but it seems clear that Romney has been exaggerating the story of his lean years in France a bit.
