Impressed by Leonard. His jumper leaves much to be desired though. Solid D by Splitter with 2 blocks and 2 steals.

RJ was solid too. Not spectacular, just steady. I'll take this effort all year long.

That behind the back pass by Manu was circa 2005 . . . a carbon copy of the pass he dished to Devin Brown against the Suns, on that memorable 48 pts game

Defensively, I loved what Leonard and Splitter brought. Both had a poor game offensively, but more than made up for it on the defensive side of the ball.

Yup. I really don't care about offense this year. We had all the offense in the world last year and it didn't do shit for us in the PO's. Tiago and Kawhi were brought in to play D and rebound, and damn did they do their job tonight.

Ummm he's a better pure PG than GH3 and don't even get me started on Chris Quinn.....

this looked good overall ... but how is this going to work if Timmy has to sit out B2Bs?

Great defensive play!!!!!!! 82 points 38 in the 2nd half. This is what I hope we see all year long. Memphis front line got 32 - 12 for the game. Randolph, Gasol, Cunningham and Skinner.
I loved the play of the young guys. Leonard and Anderson are going to fit in well in small ball when we have to use it. Funny thing we almost had to go small early in the game. Splitters defense wont show in the box score but he was excellent tonight. TP and Manu had their normal game. Bonner was good on defense. With Duncan and Blair in foul trouble he had to contribute there. Jefferson made some shots when we needed them early then got quiet. Overall, the team played at a high level after the 1st quarter.

Looks like the spurs defense has improved.

Splitter needs to be a bit more decisive when he gets the ball instead of looking to pass it but he'll get there once he stops thinking so much. Leonard's shot spotting up looks so much better than college - heaps more arc.

I'm worried about Blair. Hope he improves.

The loss of Darrell Arthur and Greivis Vasquez is big for the Grizz. Arthur torched us with his offensive rebounding and perimeter shooting..

You just can't compare this game to the playoffs... Playoffs is slower pace and play after play abusing matchups...
What you take from a game like this is the W, that Splitter and Leonard were able to help when out there, that Anderson can be a contributor, and Tony has to keep on learning how to play better than Conley.

This. What I saw tonight was the line up with the most potential for a playoff run.

All I remember from Splitter last season was how clumsy he looked, glad that has gone.
Solid D

That was a different Splitter out there defensively. He was great, especially after the refs got to know him and could see that Tiago was really playing solid defense.
It was sure nice of Tony Allen to stink it up tonight with turnovers and fouls. He was otherwise doing a good job of bothering Manu off the ball and hounding him. Replacements Pondexter and Mayo had no chance of defending Gino tonight.

Good win. Nice to see Splitter getting so much pt, he is still good on d and will get better. Some PnR with Manu or Parker would be nice to see. Leonard will give us something we lacked last season. Wish we had a better backup pg, dribbling right into players is not the way to go.
Also nice to see the Fakers and Mavs games :) 0-2 and playing like shit.

Although I like Grizz team way better I think Spurs got this one fairly easy. I expect GAZBO fat and out of shape in the start of the season and Gay choking like mad. Parker&Manu&TOSB will make it look like good old regular season Spurs game.
Spurs 96
Grizzlies 87
Bump...

It may have already been said but the Griz are definitely easier to beat with Gay on the floor. When he's not then they force feed their Bigs. Just imagine what the foul trouble could have been for us if they constantly fed their bigs.
Gay will still get his but better that RJ and Leonard pick up a couple of fouls than our bigs.
Here's hoping Gay stays healthy.
The best thing I saw last night was Splitter closing the game - the worst was Bonner getting 28 mins. I'd like Splitter to play over 34 minutes/game & play with TD a lot.
Don't like Leonard at the 3pt line - drive, young man. Impressed with his active hands and at last some size under the boards.
Gotta give RJ his props - came in and gave the team a lift when it needed it.
TJ cut into the lead on 2 consecutive trips down.
Give Splitter, Leonard and JA lots of playing time.

Off topic but does anyone know where Big Kev was?
He didn't do the PA announcing last night...
