I was initially surprised at some of the findings until I thought about why they might be. China's almost 2/3rds wealthy being self made for example.

well, they aren't going to inherit wealth when the economic liberalization started less than a generation ago. And of course, you probably won't make it big in China unless you're a well-paying crony to the local Communist party officials.

if u look at the commie countries, most of the rich are either related to the party or work for the state run companies, the private sector relies on the public sector through bribes and shit to get things done when that allocation of funds could be better spent elsewhere...
