Grant Hill would have been expected to contribute to a winning team on the Spurs. He had no interest in doing that, plus he was being offered a grossly overpaid salary with Phoenix.

My bad I phrased that wrong.

Grant Hill chose money over a chance to play for a championship. The Spurs weren't his only option and weren't his best option. I was speaking in bigger terms.

I don't think Hill stayed for the money. He chose comfort/friendship. He is best buds with Stevie Nash, and he likes living in Phoenix, and his kids are in school there, etc. It was the path of least resistance to stay. I don't think he cares about titles any more. He knows he will retire without one and he's okay with it.

Plus they offered him a lot of money.
