I think the catholic church needs to cool it in their hatred towards asexual, homosexual people who choose to procreate in this way. What do you'll think? Do you'll the church is right in their decision to fire her?

she violated her contract

She chose to work for the school, signed the contract, and kept making money until it was time for her to cash out. She's not stupid or a victim, probably just greedy.

Your right about that. But what she thought had nothing to do with religion. She gave a virgin birth, the church should applaud her for that instead of punishing her.

Private institution with specialized rules of conduct. No different than a football coach being fired because he was caught with a prostitute.

Or a priest being fired because he was caught with an 11 year-old boy.....Oh wait, they don't fire for that.

if they violated the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the school is fucked.

they take a holy oath (presumably more binding than a contract).

since they are a religious institution i believe they are exempt if they use the same rules across the board.

She knew the rules. Move on.
And yes, the Catholic Church will NEVER be able to live down the pedophile Priest issue. Never.
But I'm still Catholic and sticking to it.

The Catholic church is idiotic. That being said, don't work for idiots unless you relish idiocy.
As an aside, went to ELCS services for Christmas Eve, and they said that Jesus set the table for the sacrament, and that everyone was welcome to partake. After hearing a VERY short list of who was welcome to partake at several recent R.C. family wedding masses, it was a nice change. Rome still hasn't figured out why people are fleeing their circus in droves.

Yeah that will never happen based on belief of the sacrament

...and a phobia of any change at all.
I realize their position on the eucharist is different from most denominations. I went to mass daily through fifth grade, and weekly until about age 20, and they never announced who was welcome to partake and who wasn't. It's complete bullshit. If they don't believe as you do, aren't they just eating a little bread wafer when they come up? What's the harm in that?

It's not a simple bread waffer to catholics, and of course they do it during a wedding when that's the time they have a big number of non catholics

They didn't fire her for being pregnant. They fired her for being pregnant without a husband.

Why would someone want to partake in a sacrament in which they do not believe?

Pretty much this. I can't sympathize with her when she knew about the rules she violated, and god knows I never side with religion.

All you have to do is read her contract:
The teacher will “comply with and act consistently in accordance with the stated philosophy and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the policies and directives of the School and the Archdiocese.”
She chose to get artificially inseminated- an obviously public choice against church teaching and thereby violated the terms of her contract.
Dias counters that contract is invalid because it isn’t applied equally to men or enforced on them. Her physical state made it obvious she was pregnant, but that’s not so for men who participate in artificial insemination, she said. “It’s a double standard. I’m suing so they can’t do this to any more women.’’
:lol
For Dias, the case is about what she believes is a rigid religious institution that refuses to adapt to modern life...
Statements like this will get her nowhere. Parents do not pay to send their kids to Catholic School to be taught by people with blatant disregard for the Church's teachings.
Oh, Gee!!

"congress shall make no laws..."
doesn't give religious institutions carte blanche to treat people anyway they see fit. there are minimum standards, even for churches. having said that, I doubt her suit goes anywhere.

IMO religious institutions have the right to treat anyone who chooses to affiliate with them anyway they please.
It's just like that black basketball player who got kicked out of BYU for fucking his girlfriend. He knew the rules, and he knew the Mormon religion's long history of racism. He only has himself to blame, as does this woman.

There's a double standard that is not fair to women. If men and women are considered "equal", then the church should allow women to be priests. Priests who sexually molest children should not be allowed to be priests anymore( they have broken their vows of refraining from sex!). ( does the state allow teachers to keep on teaching after they have been accused child molestation? of coarse not!) I don't know why the catholic church keeps on acting that way when more than half their priests are faggets.:rolleyes

Maybe they don't know that RCs believe it's the actual body of Christ, and they want to partake, as they do at their own church?
I'm just wondering what the RCC thinks will happen if a non-believer partakes. Will they burst into flames? My thought is that if you don't believe, and there is actually something to the RC belief, you just ate some bread.
