Karl 35:

23.8 PPG @ 49.3%
9.4 RPG
4.1 APG
37 mins per game

Timothy:

10.4 PPG @ 39.6%
5.2 RPG
2.6 APG
23 mins per game

FUCK IT THEN Karl at age 40/41 vs Shitbag Duncan at 35

13.2 PPG @ 48.3%
8.7 RPG
3.9 APG
32 mins per game

Sad when a 40 year old playing behind the 2 best players in the game still shits flaming hot dumps on your "best power forward of all time" at age 35. Fucking joke.

I just love that with each passing season, Tim shows us all how much better Karl Malone was and allows us to appreciate true greatness at the power forward position. It's not Karl's fault that he came into the league when the legendary Lakers and Celtics were doing battle.

Fact: Tim would have 0 rings if he was drafted in 85 by Utah.

Duncan decline was predictable. Way more miles on Duncan's legs from those deep playoffs runs than Malone ever had.

Malone choosing the Lakers to chase a ring and failing at even that puts him below the Chuckster in my book.

At least Chuck always admitted he couldn't play a lick of defense (like Malone, but Karl would never say that), and he didn't bow down to chase a ring.

Hell, even in Duncan's prime he could run the floor like a 35 year old Malone. You are talking minutes, and I'm talking actual mileage.

Basketball Reference has Malone in 1110 regular season games and 148 playoff games by age 35.

And Malone had HoF Stockton pretty much his whole career... then he went to the chuckbox with Shaq, Kobe and Payton, and Kobe took a shit on his shot at the coattailed ring :lmao

sons the bottom line is ...

Malone > Duncan

and it ain't even close. Duncan has been blessed to play on defensively stacked teams and has been in a brilliant system developed by Pop. Duncan in his prime was nothing more than just the best player on the Spurs team. Hence why he was awarded finals MVP and deservingly so (for 2 of them that is). He was never a game changer or a player who could take over a game, but rather someone who was just a solid player that you could rely on to give you a good performance. Duncan has also never had to deal with Michael Jordan and his Bulls.

Nah, no one could handle MJ.

Bird's "C"'s, bad boys Pistons 3-4 consecutive times and Shaq in his second season. Pippen and Phil were already there when the Bulls got eliminated by the bad boys and Orlando.

I don't say that Duncan would take many titles from MJ, but he had a chance against some weaker Bulls championship teams, like the 98 team.

Only one season after losing to the Bulls, the Jazz had the NBA best record and Malone got the MVP, the Jazz got eliminated easily by the Blazers that the Spurs swept. The mail man just wasn't a great playoffs player, while Duncan always plays better in the playoffs then in RS.

Duncan wasn't spoon fed his points for most of his career. He got his hands dirty and worked for his points. He was the anchor for the Spurs on both sides of the ball. Of course he aged faster then Malone did. Plus the fire is put out when your career is already defined by 4 rings and two MVPs.

Malone ate out of Stockton's ass for most of his career. Easy pickings when the offense doesn't revolve around you.

He played in an era where guards routinely shot over 50% and the pace was decidedly faster. Lol at short arm Kevin Willis constantly atop the rebounding leaderboards in those days.

Such a tough, defensive era. Handchecking and all that. :cry

The era was only "tough" because the big market teams hoarded all the talent and rapid expansion hadn't yet happened to dilute the talent pool, so if a player wasn't on a team willing to spend, you had little chance at a title.

Duncan probably doesn't have a ring if was drafted by the Jazz, just like Kobe doesn't have any rings if he was drafted by the Hornets, but he'd still be better than Karl .463 Malone.

Stupid generalization. The average team may been worse than other eras but the elite teams were as tough as any in history. This was actually the period that reinforced team defense as the more important component of a championship team.

It wasn't a defensive oriented era.

League average FG% and PPG in 1988 was .480 and 108.2. In 2008, it was .457 and 99.9.

It wasn't a defensive oriented era.

League average FG% and PPG in 1988 was .480 and 108.2. In 2008, it was .457 and 99.9.

"It's an era that emphasized team defense!" :lmao

Now here's where you tell me the players being more fundamentally sound was responsible for the differences.

Pace of the game changed greatly in those 2 decades... because of the teams that transitioned to team defense as their strength; Pistons, Knicks, Bulls, Blazers, Rockets, etc.

2001: FG% Avg: .443, PPG: 94.8

1991: FG% Avg: .474, PPG: 106.3

"But, but, but it was a tough defensive era!"

And several other much better players win more. Karl was an unlucky sap to come into the league only to have to go through a prime Bird, Magic, Jordan then Hakeem to win a ring.

1999 onward was an afterthought for the well past his prime Malone.

Duncan wins shit if he's drafted in the mid 80s

WTF is wrong with you faggots on this site? The Detroit Pistons weren't a defensive powerhouse? The Chicago Bulls weren't defensive oriented team?

Those are the late 80s early 90s champs? Sure must have been easy to wallop those teams since everyone else in the league was scoring at a higher clip :lmao

Yes, and do you realize with a faster pace (like that in the 80s, early 90s) comes increased stats? If you think Alex English can average 28 on 53% shooting in today's league, you're more fucktarded than I thought. It's no surprise your beloved Karl Malone only averaged 10 boards a game once after the mid-90s. Hakeem's rebounding numbers also dropped. As did many other big men.

No dispute with that Nono. Circumstances define careers.

I just recognize the fact that it's clear as day Karl is the superior player now that we have the clarity of how shitty this washed up pile of shit is at 35.

Two or three defensive powerhouse teams does not equal "defensive oriented era."

Another shit post. The clarity we have now is that Duncan career was superior to Malone in every aspect, even if Duncan will have seemingly a shorter career.

Higher shooting percentages = less rebounds. Tit for tat faggot.

Even if you compensate for pace of the game, Karl still shits on Duncan statistically.

Stupid generalization. The average team may been worse than other eras but the elite teams were as tough as any in history. This was actually the period that reinforced team defense as the more important component of a championship team.

Sit this one out pulp, I know your faggot ass never picked a ball in your life. If you can't wrap your lips around it, it ain't going into your hands.

Yeah, that's why there was 180 more total rebounds averaged per team in 89 than 09.

:lol Like Duncan could have played at the 80s pace. He'd be a 15 and 8 guy in the 80s since every other big would have been doing wind sprints around his molasses ass. He could have very well have been Brad Daugherty.

Duncan decline was predictable. Way more miles on Duncan's legs from those deep playoffs runs than Malone ever had.

.

PERIOD, how many seasons has he played given the playoff games as well? DO NOT TELL THESE IDIOT kids that though, they can't comprehend this much. This board is full of clowns at times.

That's because Karl walked into the league at 22, while Duncan did at 21.

At any given age, Duncan has an extra NBA season on him + those extra playoffs games. That's why the 'age' comparison is monumentally retarded.

Frankly, as Duncan decline was fairly obvious, Malone longevity was fairly obvious too. He only played one side of the court.
