View Full Version : Cop Issues Speeding Ticket, Asks Driver for a Date and She Sues Him

Greedy twunt just pissed her looks didn't get her out of the ticket thus being coached by her liarwyer....... or legit anxiety?
Post photos as they become available.
---------------- ----------------- ------------------
A Chicago police officer allegedly turned a $132 speeding ticket into a pick-up opportunity when he later tracked down the female driver and asked her out, saying the least he could do for the money he cost her was to treat her to dinner, according to a lawsuit the woman filed in federal court.

Evagelina Paredes filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Chicago, accusing police officer Chris Collins of violating her privacy, according to the Associated Press. She alleges that after she was ticketed on Oct. 22, Collins searched for her address in the motor-vehicle database and left a handwritten note on the windshield of her car, which was parked outside her apartment in the Chicago suburb of Stickney, asking her out on a date.

In the note, a copy of which appeared was included in the court documents and was obtained by the Associated Press, the 27-year-old police officer tried to woo the female driver with humor and a seemingly heartfelt plea.

"It's Chris … that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you that ticket. … I know this may seem crazy and you're probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don't expect a girl as attractive as you to … even go for a guy like me, but I'm taking a shot anyways."

"I did cost you $132 - least I can do is buy you dinner," the note reportedly read.

The scenario is not that far off from the "meet-cutes" of Hollywood romantic comedies. In the 2011 hit "Bridesmaids," Kirsten Wiig's character starts a relationship with the traffic cop who let her out of a ticket for a broken taillight.

Arguably, it's a lot less "cute" when it happens in real-life.

Paredes claims that the note caused her to "suffer great fear and anxiety." In the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified payments in damages, saccording to the Associated Press, she alleges that Collins used his position as a police officer to "manipulate" her into going out with him. Collins declined to comment to the Associated Press.

wc's note would have gone further, like "you really should keep your shades down at night. Any crazy stalker-type can easily watch you sleep until you wake up every morning at 6:20, brush your teeth, take a 15 minute bath, get dressed, do your hair, leave your house, get in your car, go to starbucks, order a latte and a scone, drive to that insurance office you work at, check your e-mails, make calls, take meetings, eat a salad for lunch, get back to work, check more e-mails, make more calls, take more meetings, leave work at 5:15, drive to that gym a mile from your house, do yoga, take a shower at the gym, leave the gym, go home, eat dinner, watch reality TV, change into your nightie, and go to bed. I mean, you should be more careful."

Happens all the time...surprised we don't hear about this more often...this is ONE reason why installing cameras and requiring officers to have them running during a stop is a good idea.

duly noted:

Stickney, Ill. - Sitcom star Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered in 1989 by a killer who had used her California driving records to locate, then stalk her. Five years later, Congress passed what was called "Rebecca's law," prohibiting the unauthorized release of information from motor vehicle records.
--------------------------------- ------------------------

Also here in S.D. we had a cop who was pulling over attractive chicks in the downtown party distict (Gaslamp) then forcing them into a "put out or get a DUI" situation. He got busted. Lots of victims.

So I giggled a little and made some flirty eye contact and said "Gimme the ticket". He acted pretty surprised as if he was used to women choosing the coffee date. Anyway, he just gave me a warning and I never suffered great fear or anxiety.

"Well first of all he was wrong for doing it. They tell us NOT to ask girls on dates during enforcement or after enforcement stops. They actually discourage us from picking up chicks on the job period. Second her address was already on the t...icket, so he did not have to access the database to find her address. Third, the only way he might not have gotten in trouble is if she tracked him down, meaning if she called or went to his station looking for him. That's a little more tolorated. A chick is NOT worth your career.. If he was good looking I bet she would have went for it."

I dont really understand the "third" part of his comment though.

Maybe that the cop might have still gotten in trouble for doing it on duty even if she had been receptive to his advances?

Police officers are privileged with a lot of private information about the people they ticket, such as their home address or phone number. That information is confidential and should not be used by the officer in any manner other than what their job dictates. This cop taking that information, and using it for his own private motives of tracking her down and asking her out is not only creepy and stalkerish, but it's also a breach of confidentiality.

Now if the girl had tracked him down, she's not obligated under any confidentiality agreement. She would just be seeking him out under her own free will, and I think that would be considered okay. What's not okay is the officer forcing her, by law, to provide her home information, and then him using that information for his own stalkery purposes.

You are going too far calling it stalking. He wrote 1 single note asking her for a date.

Had he repeatedly been asking after she refused or was following her around a number of times then you can call it stalking. Women nowadays can use the stalking accusation for almost anything.

the more I think about it, the more I agree with this. In fact, it probably shows some consideration on his part that he didn't ask her while he was in uniform which could have been perceived as threatening and in exchange for the ticket. Not saying it was smart (and she sure is too ugly for "love at first sight"), but maybe not as psycho as I first thought.

Look, fuck the cops in this issue. They are there to enforce the law, otherwise leave people the fuck alone. You don't use the legal power over people's daily lives as a means to access and use their private information.

Imagine some TSA agent doing that: "Hi, Julie? Hi I don't know if you remember me but I patted you down last week at the Austin airport, near gate 11 and found the small fingernail file? Yeah well I really thought you had a tight body and since I pulled your information from the screening we did and wondered if I can take you to dinner tonight? I know where you live, so I will just swing by if that's ok with you"
