some team would have overpaid
spurs would be better off with a big and a pick then manu

...and this is why all of you are just fans and not in the front office. Ginobili is the heart and soul of the team. Yes, we are 3-0 without Manu... BIG DEAL. Last year we won 61 games! He is simply irreplaceable. Danny Green is a nice filler, and hopefully, Ginobili will take him under his wing so that Green can be the Manu of the future. Nevertheless, right now, we can win. We don't need any additions; the team looks fine. We can compete with any team, any night. If everyone plays within themselves, we can win. Splitter is constantly improving and although his offense is a work-in-progress he is slowly getting there. Blair can out-rebound anyone despite his size and his jump shot is coming together. Duncan is still reliable. Even Bonner will help us as long as he does not get over-played. We do not need to trade Manu. We do not need to blow up the team. We just have to keep on fighting.

We can win. Regular season games yes. We saw 61 regular season wins last year and a flame out against the first team they met with a solid frontline in the playoffs. They are going into the season with the same frontline as last year minus Dyess and more minutes to Splitter. No upgrade there.

Are the Spurs built for playoff success? Not with the weak frontline they have.

Parker has more value and should be traded, besides his recent performance make trading him more likely

dunkman

The frontline improvement so far (compared with the playoffs) is mostly at SF. RJ is playing well, and Green and Leonard are good. Also when the Spurs go small, Leonard rebounds like a PF. Blair is also playing very well. However, Duncan looks just like an average player on offense. Hopefully he can play better in the playoffs.

Like McHale said, when asked if Manu being injured hurts the Spurs chances, I think it was on 2009. He said something like "it hurts them like hell, because Manu makes the undefensive shots". The Spurs were doing fine in RS, but they got eliminated in the first round.

When the defenses get tight, we need Manu to advance in the playoffs. Green is a very complete player, it will be intersting to see what can he do when the other team focuses on guarding him.

I hope Green keeps it up because if not he's going to be Derrick Dial 2.0.

Looking at his stats, Dial gave the Spurs nothing but goose eggs and his highest scoring game was 15.

I don't think he could be Dial even if he tried. :lol

Parker was completely over-matched by some scrub named Conley. With the way TJ Ford is playing, and with how disinterested Parker looks now I think trading Parker would be a better option.

I believe Manu's injuries are the result of playing too hard so that would mean he cares too much. Parker on the other hand only looks to be the ballhog he is time and time again.

Parker is terrible at having a feel for the game throughout.

The only player I'd want in return for Manu is Dwight Howard. Howard gives us a shot to win now and the future.

But this is not happening.

There's no guarantee Danny Green will play at a high level all season long. Plus he's in a contract year.

Greens obviously better than Ginobili, and hes much younger, so I say we trade Green for Wade and Bosh. True that Bosh and Wade are older but we need to win NOW. Go Spurs Go!

First nobody is going to trade a big that we need for an old and injured manu. He is more valuable to us than he could ever be to any other team.

Besides, yeah he's been hurt in every playoff since our last championship, but thats why i feel good about this year. HE'S GETTING HIS INJURY OUT OF THE WAY EARLY THIS YEAR SO THAT HE CAN LEAD US TO A CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR!!

He knew he was going to get injured some time this year so might as well have it be early in the year. Then by the time he comes back, he will be fresh, ready for the playoffs and will be healthy for the rest of the year and we will make a deep playoff run!

I wouldn't trade Manu under any circumstances and we simply do not have the assets to get a player like Dwight Howard or anyone else of his caliber. Some here are so quick to get rid of the players responsible for our championships. Sorry but I couldn't see our big 3 playing for any other teams. We still have another run in us despite the naysayers.

After 1 game he gets excited> This quote from the recap is why Ducks is the least intelligent and most biased poster here:

" Danny Green, who scored a career-high 24 points in San Antonio’s 121-117 win at Denver on Saturday, didn’t score until the final 6 minutes with the game out of hand."
